| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jun 25, 2005 2004. Deep black body with a tan head, which is very small. Full of smoke everywhere, really overpowering, at least compared to the other smoked porters/stout sampled along side this one. Heavy char and smoke flavor, with some campfire woody flavors, like liking the burning campfire wood. Some cheese and meat notes in the nose at warmer temps. hopdog (5617), Lansdale, Pennsylvania, USA

Poured a dark black with a large (4.5 finger) off white head that quickly dissipated. Aromas of chocolate, smoke, and roasted malts. Tastes of smoke, light chocolate, and dark fruits. Nice smoky quality to it. The body was a little on the thin side for me. TaktikMTL (2786), Montréal-Nord, Quebec, Canada

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | May 9, 2005 Bottle from Rastacouere. Pours a dark brown, almost black with a light tan head. Nose is moderately malty, chocolate, caramelish...with notes of smoke, ashtrays (in a good way), and vanilla (?). Taste is more sweet malts, some hop bitterness, coffee-ish, peaty-smoke, quite tasty. Finish is lightly sweet, moderately acidic, moderately bitter. Medium bodied, nice roasty bitter finish....I liked this more as I drank it. Thanks David! DYCSoccer17 (2201), Davis, California, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Apr 30, 2005 Smoked bacon aroma, but not overpowering. Hints of sweet cocoa powder are also noticeable in the aroma. Mildly acidic feel to the aroma as well. Mostly opaque mahogany with a smallish tan head. Roasted chocolate to start, turning very burnt and roasty in flavor. Slight smoked bacon lurks throughout and makes a larger presence to finish. Somewhat dry finish. The middle is harsh, but the smoke is not overdone like the Schlenkerla beers. ChazyRPh (571), Chazy, New York, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Apr 30, 2005 bottle...Dark brown pour with a thin beige head. Smoke, roasted malt and cherries are the smells I pick up. Burnt malts, definite strong smoke character throughout. Subtle sweetness in the middle, nice depth of smoke. Mouthfeel is a little thin, although very silky. This is a nice brew.
