Totally dark appearance with a tan head and little lacing. Awesome aroma of roasted and smoked malts with hints of chocolate and chicory. Full-bodied mouthfeel with a creamy, malty, nut-like taste. Long lasting finish. Thanks, tiggmtl!

Bottle brought back from Canada. Smells a lot like AK Smoked Porter. Black with a brown bubbly head. Taste is smoky for sure but there is an astringent quality to it that I just don’t care for. I dont mind the taste where it’s like licking the inside of a chimney, it’s the seaweed taste I’m not into. Funky for sure.

(Bottle). Large light-brown head, mostly diminishing, fair lacing. Dark opaque body of thick appearance. In my nose, overwelming peat smoked malt aroma (scotch like) with tones of roasted malt as well as a light medicinal Lagavulin single malt like aroma. Tiny bit of sweetness but mostly smokyness followed by medium-high bitterness and a smoke finish of average-long duration in my mouth. Mouthfull, full bodied, soft carbonation. A very good beer!

I’m so nervous about smoked beers after a couple of very ’meaty’ smoked experiences. However this one was all campfire wood and smoked gouda and some nutty mocha hints. Nice start. Pours beautifully dark with a thick foamy tan head. Light chocolate and coffee and a breath of burning wood. Medium mouthfeel - thought it was going to be a bit bigger, and then a bit of coffee in the finish. Very nice.

Bottled (2004 vintage) Very black. Arome of tarry coffee and licorice. Medium bodied with rounded mouthfeel, faitrly sweet. Chocoalte and light smokiness. Not very firm.
Bottled (2003 vintage tasted in Nov 2004) Very black. Tarry lemon aroma with some coffee. Roasty and suprosingly light bodied with somewhat fizzy mouthfeel. Licorice and coffee is there, as is some smoke. Has not gained from aging, and is probably starting to go downhill. (5/4/6/3/11/2.9)

Deep brown body with red highlights, thin tan head. Strong smokehouse aroma with a touch of chocolate. Roasted malts and dry chocolate barely peek through the intense smoked flavor. Slight tartness in the finish. This hit the spot. Thanks Stephen (tiggmtl) for the bottle!
