2005 Bottle. Black body, light brown head. Cocoa and plumy smoke aroma. Really great flavor on this one. There’s a nice roasty, acidic cocoay porter under a very pleasant toasty wood smoke. Silky mouthfeel, possibly a bit thin. The finish leaves you with dry baker’s chocolate and sweet wood smoke.

I’m just like a kid right now, I like sooooooooo much this beer. Smoked aroma, nice dark color, smoked beer (taste like a good burned hamburger or a tasty pepperette). I’m out of word!!!!! :-) I live in province of Quebec and I must say that we produce real good beer...maybe the best in the world.

Blond color. The malt aroma is overwhelmed by a pungent smokey and vanilla. Medium body, good mix of malt, liquorice, smoked malt; it ends with a coffeish note… Good.

12 oz. bottle thanks to Sasquach911. Dark Brown pour with small head. Faded away before the first sip. Aromas were heavy smoke, kinda liked smoked salmon. That is about all I can get out of it. Maybe some background sweetness. Not quite as smoky on the flavor, but it is definitley there. Some unsweetend coffee, a touch of chocolate and very roasty. Some vineous sourness in the finish. Classic English Porter dusty twang. Very Good... One of my favorite porters to date. Thanks a bunch Francios

Bottle (341ml). via trade with turg - thanks yet again, man!. Poured almost opaque brown-black with a smallish lasting light brown foamy-rocky head. Very smokey dark roast malt aroma, plenty of coffee and chocolate, an interesting nutty and vinous character and something that almost made me think of blood or ketchup - I guess that’s the ferrous nature coming through. The taste is also very smokey (I know *<a href=http://www.ratebeer.com/ViewUser.asp?UserID=8 who’d hate this), with plenty of almost sour dark roast malt, I still get iron and tomato, with an almost corned beef taste with roast coffee beans; there’s a funky UK hop backbone to it as well - mouthfeel is acidic, only average bodied, decently lively, not terribly complicated or even all that balanced - but oh yeah, this is a "smoked" all right: nice!

Bottle from GonZoBeer Merci!

Pours rich and black with an aroma of smoke and chocolate. Flavor is a spikey smoke, with hints of bbq sauce and wood. A sublte hoppiness whimpers but never makes a ruckus. Palate is a bit watery, but the delicious flavor more than makes this an afterthought. Great brew!

Bottled from MartinT and served in my La Choufee tulip:<P> Poured nearly opaque with a rich nut brown highlight topped by a small but lasting biege head and okay lace.
The aroma has notes of smoked maple, chocolate and carmelized malt, iron and other minerals, hint of apple and plum, and an overall earthy quality.
The taste has a solid malt background laced with smoked meat and wood with a surprising acidic bite more towards the finish. I detected notes of mocha, licorice, and walnut as well but those are subdued by the lethal combination of smoke and twang.
The feel is crisp up front before becoming chalky and a tad astengent. A very nice beer that kept me entertained throughout, the smoke never got out-of-hand.
