The aroma is very sweet with notes of coffee and chocolate, but also a hint of some kind of cleaner - I wonder if it is the smoked malt? The flavor is sweet and to begin with quite straight down the road malty with only light notes of roastyness, but it grows on You in the aftertaste coming out with notes of the smoked malt, coffe, chocolate, but also some acidity. The aftertaste lingers for a long time with smoked wood and roasted malt, but still with the acidic note lingering in the background. I’m not that crazy about the acidic note, but otherwise this is a really nice beer. Papsoe (15103), Frederiksberg, Denmark

Bottled (2003 vintage tasted in Nov 2004) Very black. Tarry lemon aroma with some coffee. Roasty and suprosingly light bodied with somewhat fizzy mouthfeel. Licorice and coffee is there, as is some smoke. Has not gained from aging, and is probably starting to go downhill. (5/4/6/3/11/2.9) joergen (8627), Frederiksberg, Denmark

Full body, with a fat tang and long, roasty flavours. Ample hop bitterness carries all this malty goodness. A whiff of smoke in the finish. Pretty damn good. fiulijn (7420), Como; Lausanne (CH); Malmö (SWE), Italy

Medium body, good mix of malt, liquorice, smoked malt; it ends with a coffeish note… Good. argo0 (6978), Washington DC, USA

Aroma is rich, dark chocolate, coffee, light smoke, roasty. Taste is less than suggested by the aroma -- light sweet, coffee bitter, dark chocolate, muted coffee bitter finish. Medium, slightly oily body. Emil (6074), Copenhagen, Denmark
