Commercial Description:
The same malt bill as the Bièropholie Cascade. We just double the amount of Cascade hops.

The first production in 2005 was at 104 IBU and was better before December 2005.

The current production, made in April 2007 will be at its best before December 2007.

Definitely not for "Dry" lovers...

Reddish brown pour with smallish off white head and decent lacing. Aroma is loaded with citrus and pine like resin. Quite fruity with some sweeter malt sneaking in there as well. Flavor is centralized around the malt profile a bit less than expected, though the bitter aspects of the brew come through strongly in the form of citrus and earthy resin. Palate is medium with a bitter, dry finish. Quite nice.

Pours very dark for an IPA- dark caramel color, with a small white head. Aroma is ripe with Cascade aroma; citrus, earth, pine, and spruce tones. Flavor is much of the same, with lots of evergreen and earthiness. Not a complex flavor idea, but fits the billing provided by the title. Decent palate, not a bad little IPA.

3,19$ at A Tout Prix. This is a bit like a double IPA to me, except that the maltiness is not as obvious. New 2009 batch with 106 IBU, which seem quite hidden. The hopping is impressive, acting on many layers. Grapefruit-citrus dominance, notes of caramelised malt, pine needles. The hop bitterness comes on stronger in the aftertaste, reminding me of Stone Ruination’s ruining effects on my tastebuds. The texture is somewhat a little watery and oily at the same time. Does anybody else wonder if being brewed at Saint-Arnould, Bieropholie’s recent brews might somewhat be of a lesser quality? Their Double, Triple, Imperiale Stout, the awful Scotch Ale... This Cascade Plus is a little better... ADDED: After a few bottles in a few days, I must admit it is a very interesting IPA. Not very far from being amazing.

341ml bottle, poured amber, medium creamy lacing head. Nice aroma, citrusy and a bit spicy and hoppy. Flavor of caramel. Bitter finish. Rating #22
