| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Mar 26, 2006 Updated: Oct 8, 2008In short: A fruity and sweet hoppy beer. Average IPA.
How: Bottle 341ml. Re-rate for the fresh 2008 batch. Consumed fresh a month after the release
The look: Clear copper body topped by a small beige head
In long: Moderately hopped nose that is both citrusy and woody. This is not a hop-bomb. As it is the case with all of Bieropholie IPAs the beer is rather sweeter, sweeter than average for an IPA of this gravity. Dried red fruits, caramel, white and brown sugar, wood, sticky figs. To me the hopping doesn’t quite balance it out. I enjoyed the hops flavour (fruity and woody) and the mild bitterness but the sweet nature of the beer quickly takes over for a sugary sweet finish. A good beer nonetheless. A good beer but because it is similar but not quite as good as the original Bièropholie Cascade Plus the Bièropholie Cascade will unfortunately be as popular with me as Edwin Aldrin. You know… Edwin Aldrin… the second man to walk on the moon. Quevillon (1527), Sainte-Thérèse, Quebec, Canada

Arome de caramel si délicieuse que j’ai le goût de m’en acheter, du bon bien sur. Un goût amère plaisant, le malte est délicieux et très présant. Bravo! collieman (191), montreal, Quebec, Canada
| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 19/20 | Feb 26, 2006 This is a great ipa, and like the normal ipa from Bièropholie it’s a dead on perfect example of the style. And that’s why it’s not exactly for me. I’ve read all the reviews here and what seems to be missing is the overly dominant, sweet and chewy, almost crunchy burnt shugar malty ness. I love the bitter ness, and the grassy piney tang is great, and oh, the delight of that constantly building overly bitter aftertaste, all music to my molars. But the malt, that over powering malt, removes all temptation to pick this one up again any time soon, but there is defonatly atleast one more bottle of this in my future. Looking forward to the "Plus" version, perhaps the stonger ibu will smoth our the malt more succesfully. And like I said, it’s great, just not great for me. I think this was the point in the night where we started critiquing the performances on the Grammy Awards, as my notes for this one are pretty sparse. All I wrote was: "Golden-amber, wispy head. Tea-like hop aroma. A solid hoppy beer - nice!". blankboy (3207), Toronto, Ontario, Canada

Pours a clear copper with a small off-white head. Nice big aroma of cascade hops and some caramel malt sweetness to balance it out. Flavour’s the same, bitter hop flavour balanced with malt. Simple but I really liked it, Bieropholie impresses again. DarkElf (2681), La Jolla, California, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Feb 9, 2006 (341 ml bottle: Obtained in trade with Rastacouere on 25-Jan-06, thanks David!) Compared side-by-side with Bièropholie Cascade. Hazy, deep amber body shows lots of small carbonation bubbles rising toward the inch-tall, creamy-topped, off-white head. The nose is sweet and caramely, a bit grassy and musty, but not as hoppy as I expected. Nice balance in the flavor, with lightly sweet, grainy malts comingling with moderately bitter, grassy and piney hops. Good lingering bitterness to this brew, plus that dusty, chalky flavor in the finish that I really enjoy. Medium "plus" body coats the mouth, drenching it with flavor without even the slightest fade off the palate. Along with the snappy bitterness of the hops, the beer is well-carbonated for a lively and crisp mouthfeel. Head retention and lacing is average, the small ring and a few specks of foam the only remnants of the once-proud head. A decent beer, but nothing too far beyond average.
