The beer is topped by a frothy, two-finger thick, light tan colored head. The aroma is interestingly hoppy, but also has quite a bit of noticeable malt too. The hop notes are made up of citrus, with grapefruit being prominent, and a light herbal component. There are also notes of caramel, sweet crystal malt, and hints of toffee.
The mouthfeel has a soft creamy component to it, but overall is lightly spritzy with the carbonation and has a light though full character. The taste is lightly sweet, though not as much as the aroma might suggest. The hops are quite evident in this beer; a solid bitterness rides throughout this beer from beginning to lingering end. The citrus notes are a lot more muted than I was expecting, in fact the hop flavor is instead quite herbaceous with notes of pine and even some notes reminiscent of basil.
The hops are quite evident in this beer, but with a name like Cascade I expected more of a citrus focus for this beer. The beer is still quite tasty, and is quite a hoppy beer overall, but for some reason a part of this strikes me as a bit out of balance. The herbal hop character and the ample bitterness make this beer almost bracing in character. It is definitely enjoyable though. Siroy (220), Montreal, Quebec, Canada

As stated in the commercial description, this beer, along with the golding and IPA, can be instructive. After trying a blind tasting test, you really feel the difference provided by the hopping techniques. Personally, I like the Golding better.
This one has a clear amber tone. Thin white head. Citrus/hop aroma. Pine/toffee/citrus taste.

A very clear amber brew with tiny carbonation and a thin white head. The aroma has spicy and citrus like hops, biscuit malt and alcohol. A bit sharp too, perhaps it’s a bit off. Spicy and wood like hops in the flavor. Lightly toasted tasting malt. Hops are dominant but not too strong. Woody. Body is medium and semi-crisp. piscator34 (1136), Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Nov 4, 2005 Dark copper in colour with medium-high carbonation and good lacing. Dominant citrusy cascade hop aroma, along with some earthy notes and a good dose of caramel. Flavors are what you’d expect from an all cascade IPA: citrus, pine, caramel, and a bit of black pepper. It’s got a good amount of bitterness, and an almost leafy quality. Definitely a good one, although somewhat predictable. Thanks turg! Snoro (229), Montréal, Quebec, Canada

| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Oct 9, 2005 Poured a copper color with a small, off white head that left light lacing on the glass. Aorma of floral hops, light pine, citrus, and caramel malts. Pine and citrus in the taste, light grapefruit and nice sweet malts, to keep this more balanced than the Plus IPA. radiomgb (2073), Peterborough, Ontario, Canada
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Sep 29, 2005 Bottle. Beautiful rich copper in colour, thick beige coloured head, lots of lingering lace. The aroma was of citrus hops (lots of lemons), rich caramel malt, earthy and slightly sweet. Lots of cascade in the flavour, some pine and citrus, slightly sweet, lots of caramel malts. Dry mouthfeel, medium body, medium/high carbonation. Finishes with a lingering hop bitterness, dry. Not as thick or chewy as either the Bièropholie IPA or Golding but another perfectly balanced (for me anyways) Bièropholie IPA. Well done.
