beerbuzzmontreal (2909), Montreal, Quebec, Canada Sep 26, 2009 Pours a murky brown color with a thick, light brown head. The aroma has caramel, earthy/roasty malt, it’s also fruity and yeast. The flavor has a solid roasted malt with caramel, molasses yeast and mild fruityness. The body is light to medium with a syrupy texture and moderate carbonation. blankboy (3156), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Aug 18, 2009 My bottle (341ml) shared with HogTownHarry & garthicus -- c/o Viper666. Pours a murky dark ruby-brown with a large mostly-lasting creamy tan head -- looks pretty good. Nice aroma of yeast, some alcohol, caramel malt, brown sugar, fruit, herbal hops and more. Sweet, yeasty, fruity flavour along with alcohol and hops -- a nice bitterness to go along with your typical Dubbel flavour. Good body. I really like this. Enjoyable. HogTownHarry (3922), Toronto (Harbourfront), Ontario, Canada Jun 18, 2009 Bottle (341ml). Shared by blankboy with me and garthicus. Deep clear ruby with a very large, long-lasting straw-coloured foamy head. Solid roast caramel malt with pear and peach sweetness, lovely yeast and green herbal bitterness in behind. Taste follows, wow that’s grassy-bitter, which really balances the sweetness and the building alcohol presence - quite a lot going on with fruity roast malt and the pungent yeast - an interesting take on the style. Thick, mild carbonation, quite pungent yet sweet on the palate, long bitter linger - trés bien!! Diogène (542), Gatineau, Quebec, Canada May 29, 2009 Bottle. Dark red orange with a huge foamy mocha head with great retention . Great caramel and fruits aroma with candy, some spices and apples. Flavor is caramel, brown sugar, apple pie and some hops. Poured brown reddish with a medium brown foamy lacing head. Aroma is fruity yeast, sweet fruits. Awesome aroma. A bit spicy also. Some alcohol also. Mouthfeel is quite warm. Taste is quite spicy, sweet (dark fruits), some bitterness. A bit metallic on the tongue. not bad but maybe a bit off balanced. Some foam stayed untill the end.
