Sweet notes of caramel and clean crystal malt character. Intensely hoppy - very flowery. Clean crystal malt character. A hint of licorice in a very bitter finish. | 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Nov 22, 2004 The bottle just foamed over after opening, losing about 2 ounces. Other than that, poured cloudy amber with a nice head and lacing. Aroma mostly bitter hops and honey. Taste has a bitter hop bite right up front. Taste is malty with some chocolate and nice malts. An interesting brew and hop, very bitter. CapFlu (3483), Victoria, British Columbia, Canada
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Nov 18, 2004 (Bottle) Pours a deep copper body and a large, yellowish head. Nose of a highly hopped amber ale with a sour finish. Tart, hoppy and delicious. The lasting bitterness is marvelous... Not my idea of an IPA, more a fortified Amber, but a very nice beer none the less. jsquire (2107), St. Marys, Ohio, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Nov 14, 2004 Reddish orange color out of the bottle with a big frothy egg shell colored head. Spicey orange nose with some yeast. Pear sweetness with some honey, coriander spice and doughy yeast. There was something a little sour in the back that seemed a little off. I did not get much of a hop presence. muzzlehatch (4427), Burlington, Vermont, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Nov 13, 2004 341 ml bottle. Dark copper-orange, nearly clear, big ice cream soda head...pungent nose, hints of cherry, mildly sharp...cherry-sweet and almost syrupy to start, sharp on the midpalate, lingering moderately dry finish...there is something odd about the particular herbal/vegetal quality in the middle that I’m just not getting into; perhap I just don’t like the hop? Well-made, but easily my least favorite from this great brewer thus far. Dorwart (1820), Robbinsville, New Jersey, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Nov 7, 2004 Great big head of fine creamy bubbles that settle very slowly and lasts the duration of the drink. Very sticky. Good carbonation. Nice aroma of roasted grains, spicy hops and malt. Color is a dark cloudy amber. Flavor is thick with caramel, a good helping of malts, a bit of hops (not much though) and a bit of bitter peach pits. Finish is a little dry and bitter. A very good IPA flavor wise but I really expected more hops in the flavor than this. The hops do redeem themselves at the finish though. Thanks to tiggmtl for this one. | 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Nov 3, 2004 Thanks to Tiggmtl for this one. Reddish copper colour, thick white head and sticky lace. Nice malty toffee and cookie dough malts. Heady spicy hop aroma. Delicious malty flavour with spicy hops, some earthiness, and a tingly bitter finish. Also a bit of dark plum/raisin aroma as the beer begins to warm. A high quality brew. radiomgb (2020), Peterborough, Ontario, Canada
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Oct 23, 2004 Ruby-brown in colour. Aroma was of floral hops, bready malt, caramel with a slight sweetness. Flavour of caramel, sugar, rather earthy, citrus hops. Beautiful mouthfeel, great balance. High carbonation, medium body, mild bitterness. Finishes with a long crisp hoppy bitterness. This brewery does it again. Fantastic stuff.
