Pours a deep chocolate-like dark brown with a dark brown head. Aroma is extremely chocolate based, some coffee and caramel. Mouthfeel is light (actually feels a little thin at first, but comes back to haunt me :o) ). Flavour is really great, loads of chocolate, caramel and som raisins. Finish is quite bitter. Great! hophead75 (1964), Boonton, New Jersey, USA

Taste is chocolate, caramel, mild roast, some must, and dark fruits. medium bodied for the style. Finishes moderately bitter. Very nice. MrBendo (1044), Swedesboro, New Jersey, USA

Aroma of coffee, chocolate and roasty malts with a bit of liquorice. Very rich and dark, sweet, with chocolate and liquorice making the major presence. A little dark fruit, especially as it warms. Alcohol is well hidden. Very impressive beer. kp (8500), Woodstock, Georgia, USA

| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Aug 21, 2007 Bottle courtesy of puzzl (thanks!). Pours black with decent dark tan head. Roasty aroma, predominantly chocolate, though some dark fruits came out right after opening the bottle. The taste was sadly disappointing, with subtle roastiness and rather evident sourness that did not mesh well. Finish is slightly less sour and the roastiness comes back into play. Mouthfeel was average to slighlty thin. Hopefully I can give this another try whenever the new batch is produced.
