| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Apr 17, 2006 Botle courtesy of boutip. Black as coal w/ a fluffy, dark tan head w/ poor retention. Aroma of chocolate and coffee w/ mild smoke w/ all of the above plus alcohol w/ a slightly metallic taste. W/ a little more malt and alcohol, this would be a great beer. A little too watered-down for my taste, but good nonetheless. DavidP (1743), Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA

| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Mar 28, 2006 12 oz. bottle thanks to Sasquach911. Darkest of dark with hardley any head. Aromas were a quick hit of toasted nuts surrounded by chocolate and some mocha. More nuts as the aroma continued. Flavor is very roasty all the way through. Not much alcohol flavor. Unsweeted coffe to start, then roasted malts. Ending with more bitter chocolate and roasted nuts. The aftertaste is slightly bitter. Good Stuff. | 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Mar 27, 2006 Thickly black oil pours in, opaque on all accounts with a tan center in the shape of a birthmark to serve as the head. Nutty cocoa butter meets semi-sweet chocolate melting in the car. Sweet chocolate caramel courses the aroma with Irish cream coffee grinds and creamy fudge morsels. Lighter fairing flavor and a touch of acidity comes into play. Granular coffee and bitter baker’s chocolate. Hop profile and excessive black patent give it a steely twang and a rivaled sharpness. Some lactic chocolate slabs come to fruition in the finish, but it’s fairly run-of-the-mill. Thanks for sharing, Ughsmash! 1FastSTi (2591), Glendale, Wisconsin, USA
