Taste a lot like chocolate (I don’t like chocolate, which isn’t a good start). The beer is much more like a porter than a stout or a black beer.

Pours thick, cark black body with dark brown large foamy head. Chocolate, caramel and malt aroma. Nutty, roasted chocolate, coffee sweet/sour flavor. Smooth, alcohol warming palate and finish.

Bottle acquire in trade with tiggmtl (thanks!). 2005 vintage drunk at room temperature. Poured a darker than dark black with a large sized brown head. It just doesn’t pour darker than this. Aromas of roasted malts, dark chocolate, lighter coffee, and some caramel. Tastes of dark chocolate, roasted malts, dark fruits and a light to medium bitter coffee finish. Some lacing left on the glass. Oily and smooth body. I don’t know what it was with food last night, but this one reminded me of pistachio nuts as well.

A creamy, mocha-colored head sits on top of this opaque black brew at the pour. Strong aroma of dark chocolate and strong coffee. Roasty bitter in flavor with a good body and mouth feel.

opaque black, no light passes through, thick fluffy coffee colored head that fades down to a nice layer and coats the sides of the glass. strong aroma of coffee, a bit of toast and vanilla. loads of coffee and chocolate in with some sweet candi sugar and a bit of vanilla and toast. just a hint of hops in the tail. i will definitely buying more of this next time i’m north of the border, very smooth, very well balanced, huge flavor, this is definitely an upper echelon imperial.

Black coffee, hue, with a brown tan-colored head, with roasted malt, dark malt, cacao, nutmeg aromas fallow through on a medium-bodied palate, with burnt toast, roasted malt, dark chocolate, spicy nutmeg, roasted coffee beans flavor, maybe hint of vanilla or mocha, leading towards a roasted bitterness finish.
