Lovely aroma of Chocolate, roast, some sweetness and malt. Is very smooth in the flavour. Coffe, roast and some chocolate notes. Ends on a nicely bitter and coffeish note. Really like this one eventhough the flavour dosn’t live up to the nice aroma. hopscotch (5517), Vero Beach, Florida, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Jan 19, 2005 Bottle... This beer rocks!... Impenetrable black ale with a tiny, creamy, copper head. Milk chocolate and vanilla nose with notes of macadamia nut, graham cracker, caramel and brown sugar. Perfectly balanced and very chocolatey flavor. Full-bodied and silky with soft carbonation. Chocolatey, lightly bitter finish. Milk chocolate in a bottle! Great, world class stuff. Reminds me of Weyerbacher’s Old Heathen. MilkmanDan (1940), Eagan, Minnesota, USA

Well, Stephen (tiggmtl) sent me this bottle in a trade and I figured it would make a good beer for #900! Deep brown/black body with a medium burnt ochre head. Big roasty nose with notes of molasses and mocha, also revealing hints of smoke. Flavor starts bitter and toasty, quickly subsiding to strong roasted malts and coffee. Yes, there is a smoked character to this beer. Rather dry for an Imperial Stout. A bit leathery/salty. I’m not sure this is an Imperial Stout, but it is a great beer.
