Oct 18, 2004 Good sized brown head. Frothy and rocky on top. Reduces slowly to a thin foam. Rick aroma of wood smoke, roasted grains and a bit of soy sauce. Color is a dark reddish black. Flavor is bitter, dry coffee. Almost tart. Finish is dry and bitter with a bitter pasty aftertaste. Good but different. Bit thin for a imperial stout.

Oct 12, 2004 Thanks Jercraigs. Jet black with a huge rocky dark brown head that fades leaving thick sticky lace all over the glass. Nice roasty aroma, molasses, soy, and dark coffee. Flavour is similar with a long bitter hoppy finish. Body seems a bit thin for an imperial stout and I would have liked to see a bit of sweet fruit in here.

Sep 5, 2004 Very thick pour like motor oil. Surprising for a 7% ABV beer. Very dark, nearly black body. Creamy, rusty-brown head consisting of minute bubbles that didn’t linger for very long. Aroma of soy sauce, distinct earthiness and lesser elements of dark chocolate mousse, espresso, and port. Strong roasty, even smoky, dark chocolate flavor. A thick, full-bodied beer. Tasty and enjoyable, but less depth than expected.

Aug 21, 2004 Thanks for another one Jercraigs. The beer pours opaque black with the darkest head I’ve ever seen. The nose is balanced between bitter chocloate and coffee. The flavour is dominated by roasted coffee with only hints of the chocolate. I can also taste some hops on the finish that linger. Very good.

Aug 20, 2004 Black with a beautiful chocolate head. Aroma has lots of bitter chocolate and coffee notes, with some roast as well. Fairly dominantly bitte, like an intense dark chocolate or chocolate covered coffee beans. Wierdly good, even though I don’t really care for the coffee qualities. Nice palate but with a slighty ashen astringent finish that leaves a long lingering bitter aftertaste.

Aug 15, 2004 bottle-sampled with phillybeer_2112 in my motel room-Wichita, KS-pous opaque with dark tan head-looks like most imp stouts. aroma of dark fruit, cherries, oak aging, coffee, dark chocolate. lots of coffee on the flavors-expresso. the body and viscosity say that this is not an imperial stout. if there was a "strong stout" category, this would fit in as a strong contender.

Aug 5, 2004 Pours oily black, appears still except for the thin layer of head. Strong roast, bit of espresso, acrid black malt. Popcorn? Strong roast in flavor, oily mouthfeel. Bitterness in the throat. Palate is thick but on the lighter side of imperials at 7%. Acrid flavors linger.
