Wow! Très ronde et bien balancée. Merveille! DocLock (4648), Lower Pottsgrove, Pennsylvania, USA

Aroma of piney hops, florals, black pepper, fruit. Tastes very hoppy, with some florals, black pepper, and hints of caramel, fruit, and even chocolate. Well balanced, with complex aroma and taste, this is one for the ages. hopscotch (5530), Vero Beach, Florida, USA

Small, fizzy, white head. Nose of toffee, iced tea, (goldings), mandarine orange and lemon. The flavor is lightly sweet and has moderate to heavy bitterness. Fatty, chewy malts. Tongue numbing hops. Medium-bodied bliss. Astringent, lightly sweet, mostly bitter, dry finish. collieman (191), montreal, Quebec, Canada
| 5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 5/5 | 10/10 | 5/5 | 20/20 | Jan 14, 2005 The best beer in Quebec? Deffinaly. The best in Canada? Almost certanly. The best I have ever or will ever taste? Quite posibly. More of a bitter or a esb than and ipa, but enough malt to pass as identified. Pours a deep copper, off white whispy head that settles to a tight web, clings to the glass all the way down. Cristal Clear ale. Rich british bitter hops on the nose, slight malt. Med-low carbonation, palate of ultra fine sandpaper. First taste is REALY bitter hops, tounge numbingly bitter. tiny hint of caramel malt hiding in the corner. Second taste chocloate malt, smoke, more bitter. Aftertaste WOW, bitter nutty, more bitter. No fule notes to speek of. Only one problem. It’s too strong. 6%abv. A heavy bitter drinker wants the abv. around 4.2%-4.5%. 3-4 bottles and the head gets overly fluffy, but other than that, a perfect ale. Get this one, as much as you can. As for me, it takes me over a hour on the bus to get to the one store I have found that stocks this one, just to fit 8-12 in my backpack, for the long back hurting ride home. I concider this trip well worth is once a week. Get this beer, if you like bitter that is. Best bitter around. Cheers. Eructoblaster (1508), Gatineau, Quebec, Canada
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jan 12, 2005 Nice hazy amber body topped with a thick and lasting off-white foamy head. Delightful hoppy aroma with herbal and spicy hints. Very well balanced hoppy (Golding) taste with a long and strongly bitter finish. As fot the other beers from Bièropholie, that one stands far above the average. As the commercial description says, this is for people who really loves beer; not for insipid corn-soda lovers. | 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Dec 5, 2004 Decent frothy off-white head. Reduces to a thin foam with a good deal of sticky lacing. Light carbonation. Much darker than I expected for an IPA. Kind of a dark orange mahagony in color. Good amount of floral hops in the aroma with a bit of roastyness and smoke. Smooth mouthfeel with a great big healping of malts. Almost chewy. More roasted grains and the hops is pretty subdued with all of the malts hanging around. Finish is long and creamy and leaves a slightly bitter roasted flavor in the mouth. A very good IPA that is not as hoppy as some but makes up for it with a great smooth, malty taste. Thanks tiggmtl for this one. Silphium (2144), Haslett, Michigan, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Nov 15, 2004 Deep copper-red body, thin cream clumping head. Very caramely aroma with light notes of earthy hops. The flavor is likewise slanted towards the malts, with caramel, brown sugar, and hints of light fruit balancing the earthy hops. Increasingly bitter finish as the beer is quaffed. Towards the end of the glass notes of tobacco leaf develop. More or less a low ABV American Strong Ale, along the line of Bear Republic’s Red Rocket Ale. Thanks Stephen (tiggmtl) for the bottle! BeerPrince (1701), Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Oct 24, 2004 Copper amber coloured with a nice white head. Aroma is toasty with lots of hops, and herbs. The flavor is lemony citrus with sweet malts & a bit of caramelized malt sweetness. Finishes with the toasty hops and not overly dry.
