Unique aroma of fruity malts, toffee, pine and even some smoke. Flavor favors the maltier IPA style, though not necessarily "English". Soft carbonation accents the medium-body taste. Finishes with a spicy bitterness (or is it a bitter spicyness?). Many thanks to tiggmtl for a great trade. Michael Tuguigui (16), concord, Ontario, Philippines

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jun 16, 2004 Hoppy, fresh with hints of rosewood and sweet fruits. Less one dimensional noose than most IPAs , but on bad note alcohol is show to much . Tea-amber , thick head . Pleasant look .High bitterness, with medium dark malt. Medium dry finish . Good, yet different. OKBeer (1159), Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jun 16, 2004 Dark amber, almost ruby colour with a frothy fully diminishing tan coloured head. Caramel, fruity, grapefruit, and toffee aroma. Woody and bready malt flavours, with a piny and grapefruit bitter finish. Light bodied and a tad watery. DaSilky1 (2017), San Diego, California, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Jun 10, 2004 dark clear sappy maple color with a a fast shrinking cream colored head..musty, caramelly hops..slight burnt citrus..flavors start with a very firm and almost dominant malt background (foreground?) with a spicey, almost spicey orange zest taste...pretty light IMO and not enough bite for me. not bad though. | 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jun 9, 2004 Poured a cice off-white, tight head but faded fast. Very clear amber red. Nose was pretty bold but the kicker was to taste it: bitter, heavy and hoppy. Crockett (904), Steelback County, Ontario, Canada
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | May 27, 2004 Surprisingly dark for an IPA. Clear orange red. Big off white lacing head. Caramel hop nose with clover. Grainy, strong hops, and burnt. Balanced with lots of malt. Vanilla, earthy molases and wood. Filling with a roasty finish. At the border of being heavy. Nice example with a bit of a Quebecois twist. 5000 (2600), Hardened Liver, Washington, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | May 1, 2004 Bottle pours a deep translucent amber, large off-white frothy head, with good lacing. Caramel, toffee, and subtle hops on the nose. Slight milk sugar aroma as well. Dark fruit, sweet caramel/toffee, and light malts up front. This seems completely different from most IPAs that I’ve ever had. Finally, some bittereness emerges halfway through this beer and onto the finish. While it has a decent aroma and flavor, it finishes rather flat, without much flavor cept to say a slight bitterness. Maybe I am just too used to PNW varieties, but this one seems somewhat mild in comparison. A bit maltier than most, which is fine, but I dont get any sharp hop bite that I was hoping for. Still a decent offering, even if slightly unusual.   Thanks goes out to Rastacouere for the trade!
