Terrific, malty nose with strong notes of clover and orange blossom honey, bread and golden raisins. Malty, but well-balanced, perfectly bittered flavor. Medium-bodied and oily with lively carbonation. Lengthy, grassy, lightly bitter finish. Maybe the best pilsener I have tasted to date. World class stuff! mustang3 (254), Whitby, Canada
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 9/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Dec 10, 2004 Bottle, unfortunately mine was a gusher so I only got baout half of this incredible beer. Definitely the best pilsener I’ve ever had. Incredibly large white head with a hazy yellow colour. The nose is an interesting combination of hops and floral grassy notes. The flavour is outstanding, lots of hops but crisp and refreshing with a bit of that floral/grassy flavour. Very carbonated. 5000 (2600), Hardened Liver, Washington, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Nov 18, 2004 Bottle pours golden, farily clear, HUGE white rocky head, completely crazy strong carbonation, with superglue like lacing. I dont think I have whaffed a spicier Pilsner in my life! Quite floral & spicy on the nose. Not as much as a Saison, but quite a bit for a Pilsner. Slightly yeasty, a bit musty. Earthy, slightly malty, floral, and basement like. This seems more of a belgian than a Pilsner. Enjoyable body & mouthfeel. Soft palate, the strong carbonation doesnt detract. Finishes light, slight astringent bitterness. Not what I would expect for a Bohemian Pilsener, but t’was still enjoyable. Thanks goes out to radiomgb for the trade!

All with whom I have drank it would move from MACRO brew to Micro Brew anyday. Only hard to get. muzzlehatch (4427), Burlington, Vermont, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Nov 13, 2004 341 ml bottle. Clear, slightly oily and translucent gold....the head is that of the creamiest, fullest malted milk or vanilla soda ever, lasting absolutely forever and forming all sorts of odd little patterns...the lacing is beautiful and abstract...a gorgeous perfumy floral nose, fresh hay, lavender and honeysuckle entrances and enthralls, drawing me to deep meadows in the morning of the world...sweet honey on the tongue, hardy hops shine through on the back end, softness inspires somnolence, perhaps just a bit much for this hardy provincial style....easily the best Bohemian Pils I’ve had, confirmation that the brewer is entering the realms of the spectacular and inspired. Strange. When I rated this I thought that my bottle was infected, but I see many similar observations to mine. Cloudy yellow-orange colour. Had a huge rocky head that seemed to last and last. Sort of funky lactic aroma with herbal resinous hops that really reminded me of Orval. Body was bone-dry, slightly chalky. Finish is very bitter, but is not balanced by any malty sweetness. I didn’t actually give this a rating because I was sure it was infected. Completely unlike any Pils I’ve ever had. I’ll have to re-rate this next time I’m in la belle provence. Thanks to Tiggmtl for resending me this one.

Rich golden, slightly cloudy beer with a thick lasting white head. Malty caramel, toffee, and floral hop aroma. Flavour is fat and malty with a bit of black pepper, spice and a faint hint of licorice. A slight earthy character and some residual sweetness. A very interesting interpretation of the style.

Med body with crisp hop finish. Light spice, malt, hops and light roasted flavors. Wow, pretty nice drinking, I’m surprised by how much I like this, wish I could get some more! | 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Oct 26, 2004 Updated: Apr 2, 2005(Yellow Label) Absolutely humongous head. Not sure why it did this. Blasted right out of the glass during the pour. At least 4 inches of head compared to the 1 inch of liquid. Anyway, bright white head of low density. Impressive lacing remains. Lots of carbonation remains so the head is constantly regenerating. Very difficult to get a read on this beer with so much head. Slightly fruity aroma, with decent hops presence and a bit of spicy cinnamon and nutmeg. Color is a medium golden amber. Dry chalky palate that hints at more spiceness. Good bitterness from the hops presence. Well balanced. Dry bitter finish that makes you pucker for more. A hint of smoke at the last moment. A good pilsner in a world full of bad pilsners. Thanks to tiggmtl for this one.
(Orange Label) Large white head with great carbonation. Head reduces slowly. Sweet corn and hops aroma with a bit of malt. Color is a light brownish orange. Flavor is grassy with some hops and sickly malts. Not siting well with my stomach. Dry and bitter at the finish with a little bitterness in the flavor also. Not rocking my world. Liked the yellow label alot better. Rating averaged down. Thanks to tiggmtl for this one.
