| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 2/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | May 24, 2004 Clear medium gold. Hoppy-bready aroma with some mineral notes. Slightly crisp, with warm maltiness. Hops are grassy, slightly fruity. Cat piss came on a little too strong though. Rastacouere (5559), Montréal, Quebec, Canada
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Aug 5, 2004 Updated: Dec 20, 20042nd batch (label surrounded by a yellow border) From the shining golden body emanes a frothy white head that won’t leave. Aroma could be a bit more pronounced, but it’s clearly a pilsner, saazy flowers and something more to the hop profile. Solid malt, clean and herbal, Nice malt/hops balance. I indeed prefer it to the first version. Long bitter finish: very dry. Body is medium-thick, very filling for the style while carbonation is adequately lively. Well structured tasty pils. / First batch: (label with red) Clear light yellow body with a mild golden shine. Big white frothy head forms on top of the very effervescent liquid. Fresh floral saaz aroma. Fresh cut grass malt profile. Grassy palate with the typical toasty malts at first which. Dry finish with a fitting bitterness strenght. I never have that much to say about a pilsner and being the only one rating it, I’d sure wish to be more descriptive, but this displays great balance and tastes fresh like I wanted it to be + it got a nice bitter aftertaste and a tongue-cleaning carbonation that makes it a perfect match for salmon I imagine. I’m in a belgian funk mood though these days, so I may not be appreciating it to the fullest. No excess on that one. The brewers were talking of a beer approaching the old Budvars, but I thought the budvar to be less hoppy and maltier. In that sense, it’s not unlike one of the rare fresh Urquell bottles. 3.5 hopscotch (5504), Vero Beach, Florida, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jan 23, 2005 Bottle... This beer rocks!... Hazy, amber lager with a medium sized, fizzy, white head. Terrific, malty nose with strong notes of clover and orange blossom honey, bread and golden raisins. Malty, but well-balanced, perfectly bittered flavor. Medium-bodied and oily with lively carbonation. Lengthy, grassy, lightly bitter finish. Maybe the best pilsener I have tasted to date. World class stuff! JorisPPattyn (5183), Antwerpen, Belgium
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | May 22, 2004 Intense pale green-gold; irregular snow-white head. Nose with grain, sweet malts, flowery, but just a whiff of hops in the background. An aroma of starfruit or cactus fig. One intensely short moment of a sweet fruit (difficult to say which); then follows a revolving of intense hoptaste, suitably bitter and sweet golden malt. Bitter mouthimpression keeps going on for long. Rather well-bodied. Bitterish taste is on the verge of harsh. An excellent balance. It didn’t really remind me of the great Czech Pilseners, but it is an interesting bottom fermenting beer all the same. thanks Martin! MartinT (5068), Montreal, Quebec, Canada
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Sep 25, 2004 Updated: Sep 3, 2005(Yellow-framed label) : Proficient, citrusy, resinous Saaz hop effusions float on the mountainous head of sticky foam...Weird floaties, considering the fact that this is supposed to be filtered (or so I think) lie dormant on the bottom much like OKBeer’s experience...The dry, tart hop signature is all over the place, very well-balanced between citrusy acidity and flowery bitterness...I definitely see what OKBeer means when he compares this to Orval : a fluffy body with a very similar level of carbonation with a huge rocky head drawing maps of an unknown world on the sides of the glass, harboring hop flavors not unlike the great master itself in a quaffable dryness and light eccentricity that makes you beg for more...There is no brettanomyces in Na Zdravi but you can easily imagine what it could be with it...With much more hop-driven flavors than the 1st recipe, this thirst-quenching yet thirst-inducing epiphany would need just a bit more of a malt cookie kiss to become a superstar...
(Red-framed label) : Light citrus amidst relevant earthy malt and crisp Saaziness…A relentless head gives a great appearance to this fantastically clear gold…Hay and pine fade away into a super-drinkable and mild aftertaste…I am not yet a big fan of pilsners of any kind, but I can say I much preferred the first half of the sip, flavorful and more assertive, than the second half which is quieter and maybe less complex…An oncoming trip to the Czech Republic might illuminate me…3.3/5 JoeMcPhee (5010), Jackson Heights, New York, USA

Strange. When I rated this I thought that my bottle was infected, but I see many similar observations to mine. Cloudy yellow-orange colour. Had a huge rocky head that seemed to last and last. Sort of funky lactic aroma with herbal resinous hops that really reminded me of Orval. Body was bone-dry, slightly chalky. Finish is very bitter, but is not balanced by any malty sweetness. I didn’t actually give this a rating because I was sure it was infected. Completely unlike any Pils I’ve ever had. I’ll have to re-rate this next time I’m in la belle provence. Thanks to Tiggmtl for resending me this one.

Rich golden, slightly cloudy beer with a thick lasting white head. Malty caramel, toffee, and floral hop aroma. Flavour is fat and malty with a bit of black pepper, spice and a faint hint of licorice. A slight earthy character and some residual sweetness. A very interesting interpretation of the style.

| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Jul 13, 2004 Light golden color with a tall off white head. Lots of fine lace. Initial vegitable aromas replaced by a wet malt and lightly herbal hops aroma (quite typical of the eastern countries that are implied by the name). Dry grain and light wood flavors - again quite typical of the monicer. Finish is lightly sweet and again slightly woody. Seems to have more of the european strong lager qualities than a bohemian pils. An interesting rate provided via Rastacouere. BückDich (4853), McCall, Idaho, USA
