Commercial Description:
Un genre d'hybride bière/tawny/cognac... Des fruits, cerises, dattes, caramel et tout le pataclan sur une finale toute chaude d'alcool. Une gaterie à partager avec l'être cher.

For me the brewer, it's not made to be an American Strong Ale or something else. It's made to be a kind of barley based port-style with very little carbonation, just enought to protect it against oxydation.

Bottled. A deep red beer with a thin brown head. The aroma is sweet with strong notes of over ripe fruits, and notes of alcohol, and malt. The flavor is sweet malty with notes of caramel and a lovely fruity note of both fresh and over ripe fruits, leading to a dry alcoholic finish. Thanks Papsoe for sharing.

(Bottle 34,1 cl) Courtesy of Siroy. Pours a pretty, clear, dark orangey brown with a small, off-white head. Vinous aroma with notes of dried fruit. Full-bodied, sweetish body with loads of vinous accents and some raisins. Not much bitterness. Very interesting. 211006

Bottled, thanks Rastacouere! Mahogany colour, near no head. Distinct port aroma. Sweet and full bodied with dense mouthfeel. Very vinous r brandy-like. Rich and elegant. Finishes with cherry-like fruitiness.

Golden-brown colour. Toffee, alcohol and crackerlike aromas. Sweet, brown sugar flavour with light molasses. Simple but tasty, and surprisingly not a lot of booziness.

Bottle. Dark red brown colour with a medium beige head. Dried fruits, chocolate, coffee aroma and a sweet malty, dried fruits, coffee, light alcoholic taste. Medium to full body with a sweet light alcoholic finish.

Bottle acquired in trade with MartinT (thanks!). Poured a medium mahogany color with a small sized off white head. Aromas of toffee, dark fruits, nuts, and light alcohol. Tastes of caramel, dark fruits, and had a brown sugary sweetness. Light alcohol in the finish (but not near the 12.5%).

Purple hinting deep brown shows no apparent effervescence and neglectable head. A love or hate case, I could have seen this making a short sojourn in the top 50 if it were from a place with more generous raters. In other words, it is potent, powerful even, feeling kinda concentrated in the same way than an eisbock would (get it René? =). It doesn’t look gorgeous, though I can only echo the brewer’s sayings that this aimed more at being some kind of digestive than a beer. I’ll thus settle for a 3. Aromatic components are varied, complex port-like in its fruit concentration, though in a darker fashion (plenty of dates, licorice, pear drop, meaty Mourvèdre grape varietal etc.). Explosive in its fruitiness, it can’t escape the inherent syrupy feel. In mouth, its expressiveness grows, with more alcohol suggestions peaking through, yet remaining tolerable for 12.5%. A remarkable fruit explosion highly liquorous in texture, slick and oily, I can imagine a bunch of friends losing themselves in naming and arguing about the fruit varietals this potion hints at. With that optic, a strong success, but had I not known a little of the idea behind it, I could only say it is not really my style, being usually a fan of drier and more often than not lighter and paler stuff. A fine and original sipper nonetheless that is a welcome addition to a non-belgian strong beer deprived region.

Bottle... TITW Part Deux... Clear, dark orange ale with a small, creamy, white head. Only slightly oxidized. Malty, fruity nose with vinous notes of sherry, red wine and ethanol. Toffee esters as well. No semblance of balance in the malty, fruity flavor. Sweet and boozy. Full-bodied with lively carbonation. Finishes sweet and warming. Thanks to kmweaver for his generosity!
