Commercial Description:
Un genre d'hybride bière/tawny/cognac... Des fruits, cerises, dattes, caramel et tout le pataclan sur une finale toute chaude d'alcool. Une gaterie à partager avec l'être cher.

For me the brewer, it's not made to be an American Strong Ale or something else. It's made to be a kind of barley based port-style with very little carbonation, just enought to protect it against oxydation.

Well first, the label says "Le Chaudron" but it was a mitake, the S is for the Bieropholie’s line. A very dark burgundy color beer with no head, minimal carbonation. The residual of the head stays and stick on the glass. Some golden hues are striking throught the beer. Her smell is quite an experience, fruity reminding me of sweet wine like "muscat", smell of grapes, malt and alcohol. Also some sherry like flavors. The taste is sweet, grappy, malty, alcohol warm and rich, buttery, scotch like with an end reminding us of an ice cidre. Hell of a beer there!

A very full-bodied beer, sweet with taste of wild berries, cherries and grappes. Alcohol is present, a digestive beer.

Bottle from Beerbuzzmontreal. He recommended this as being underrated. He was right. Sweet caramel malt aroma with a hint of heat. Dark brown body with red highlights. Full palate. The taste follows the aroma with more brown sugar falvors and some light fruits. Excellent brew.

(Rating #624)

Rating #800. 341 ml bottle courtesy turg. Dark mahogony colour with a quickly diminishing frothy off-white head. Rich toffee and dark chocolate aroma plus plum, raisin, cherry, and other fruit with oaky and acidic notes. Flavour shows port, citrus fruit, and more plum and raisin with a chocolaty and boozy finish. Also some acidity, almost like there’s some Flemish Sour in there somewhere. Full bodied, very warming but very drinkable for 12.5%. In Na Zdravi, i found a tribute to Orval. Here I find a salute to De Dolle. Many thanks turg for this gem for #800.

Very deep mahogany in colour, thin off-white coloured head, some light patchy lacing. The aroma is lightly alcoholic, lots of toffee sweetness, sourdough bread, dark fruits, vanilla, some cherries. The flavour is moderately sweet, some caramel malts, figs, some alcohol but not overpowering, very rich. Sweet mouthfeel, medium/large body, medium carbonation. Finishes very long, quite sweet, sugary, late alcohol. Another excellent beer from Bièropholie, probably the best brewery in Quebec not named Dieu du Ciel.

341ml bottle obtained in a trade with <a href=http://www.ratebeer.com/ViewUser.asp?U target=blank>Rastacouere, thanks David.

The Lure:
Joyful grape juice emanates from the scintillating burgundy/mauve garment. Scant lacing decorates the wine glass, as peaking alcohol announces its future warming. A little too shy of an aroma to really be alluring, but intrigue is settling in nicely.

The Festivities:
The serenely confident fruitiness of black grapes and various berries embraces the full but smooth body. Port wine characters meet beer half-way, and they both exchange some of their fine attributes. A lovely idea. Alcohol tickles the meticulous malt roastiness in the back, and warms the throat gently, as drops of milk are hallucinated within. Aftertaste is rather short, but still exhibits some of the delicate sweetness previously presented. Neither barley wine, nor old ale, neither port wine, nor quadrupel, a stunning creation which will amazingly be accessible to most palates.

Transcendence:
Naked on velvet drapes.
