Bottled. Poured clear, deep reddish-brown with a dusting of beige head. The aroma was very fruity with darker notes, toasty caramel, and nutty notes.. smelled strong, but it amplified the maltage rather well. The flavor had syrupy caramel and dark fruits malts at the core with spicy notes and a backsplash of molasses.. finished warm, dry, and fruity. Medium-plus bodied with a thick-ish feel to it.. low carbonation.. warm and dry. This was alright, but I’d prefer more caramel than fruit.

Bouteille 341ml. De couleur rouge-brune foncée et claire. Nez de réglisse noire sucrée (anis), malté de caramel toffee avec des notes fumées, boisées et de chocolat, légèrement fruitée (raisins) ainsi que léger de noix et de houblon herbeux. Moyennement ronde en bouche avec un pétillement moyen-bas et une texture moyennement crémeuse et aux petites notes sirupeuses. Moyen-goût fruité (raisins aux petites notes vineuses, notes de dates et de prunes) accompagné dun goût de réglisse noire (anis, intense) ainsi que des petites notes fumées lors de lentrée en bouche auquel se rajoute un goût malté de caramel toffee moyennement rôti (notes brûlées et traces terreuses) et sucré, léger de chocolat noir et avec des traces de mélasse et de sirop dérable. Parallèlement, lon retrouve un petit goût dalcool liquoreux aux notes réchauffantes jusqu en finale où lon y retrouve également un léger goût de houblon herbeux ainsi qu un léger goût de noix et des notes boisées et épicées (regain d’anis, faibles traces de gingembre). Post-goût moyen-long et un peu sec, moyennement amer de rôti, de chocolat noir, de houblon herbeux avec un goût épicé (anis), un léger goût fruité (moût de raisins) et des notes dalcool et de noix.

Poured a lightly hazy brown color with a small, light tan head that left light lacing on the glass. Aroma of caramel malts, roast, some cocoa, raisins, and a bit of smoke. Taste of caramel, molasses, tobacco, nuts, roast, and nuts, with a little alcohol as well.

341ml bottle shared courtesy of TomDecapolis. Poured a deeper copperish color with a smaller sized off white head. Aromas of caramel, tofee, some woodiness, nutty, and roasty. Tastes of caramel, citrus, nuts, earthy, and toffee. Alcohol content well hidden.

Pours a deep chestnut with amber notes and a medium creamy bubbly off white head that left some lacing. Aroma of black licorice, nuts, caramel, light smoke, toffee, light alcohol, woody and scotch. Flavor of molasses, earthy, walnuts, caramel, very smooth, ginger and pecans.

Gouts de caramel bien evident. Bonne scotch ale mais ordinaire. Evident caramel notes. Good scotch ale but very ordinairy.

Tastes of chocolate, sweet sweet raisins, plums, dates, caramel and roasts. Palate is low in carbonation, medium in thickness, and dry on the finish. The finish contains some interesting bright fruit and hops to go along with a dry chocolate, adding to the complexity of this brew. I wish the carbonation was stronger in order to liven up the body a bit.
