| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Sep 26, 2009 Pours a cloudy reddish brown color with a thin beige head. The aroma has mostly caramel and spices, it’s somewhat fruity too. The flavor has a blend of spices, caramel and mild fruits. This is far from what you’d expect from a tripel and by far the worst beer ever brewed by Bièropholie.

| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 1/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Nov 4, 2009 Dark amber-copper color, with a thick beige head, yeasty, earthy toasty, caramel malt, mild candied fruity nose of ripe apples, sultana raisins and plums, with a light nutmeg spicy accent and a hint of floral hop grassiness in the aroma follows through on a medium-bodied palate with a warmth honeyed, toasted, biscuity, caramelized malt character, with some brown sugar, toffee, rasiny, plummy, ripe apple faint coffee flavors, with a nice flowery hop grassy note, leading towards a warming, toasty, caramel, fruity ripe apple, grassy hop bitterness finish. Not your typical triple! TheJester (717), Peterborough, Ontario, Canada
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Aug 21, 2009 341 mL bottle. Brown (!?) with a small, short-lived head. Aroma is Belgian, but contains a lot of caramel malt - not a common feature of tripels. Flavour is bizarre - again, this is not a tripel. I really don’t know how to describe this. There’s something candy-like, artificial to it. Thin caramel. Earthy hops. Brown apple. Thinnish. Closer to a dubbel than a tripel, but not particularly good either way. | 2.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 3/5 | 8/20 | Aug 21, 2009 In short: A spicy caramelized syrupy sweet beer of some kind. Not a abbey style tripel and not a good beer
How: Bottle 341ml. Batch 2. Drank a few bottles that were between 2 months and 8 months old
The look: Almost clear dark copper body topped by very small beige head
In long: Nose is some kind of spicy alcohol shooter. Syrupy sweet body. Cloying sweetness. Spicy hops... no I take that back, spices and not hops (obviously that’s not the case but that’s what it felt like). Sweet berries and cardboard dipped in caramel. There was something in the finish attempting to dry out the beer but it felt like someone put a cardboard piece in my mouth. I even got a light anise flavour?!? I’ll stop here, this is a fucked-up beer. Their Double was pretty nice but something went wrong here with the usually reliable Bieropholie. Not only is it totally off as far as the style is concerned but it is also a mess regardless of the style. This beer is to Abbey Tripels what a banana-ketchup sandwich is to jazz music. | 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 13/20 | Aug 20, 2009 Pours mahogney brown with off-white bubbly head, and that left lots of spider lace. However, the first tasting had almost no head. Aroma is yeasty however somewhat barleywinish was first tasting. Taste is noticeably thin for the style. Taste was Ok, a bit sweet, basic and drying finish. blankboy (3250), Toronto, Ontario, Canada
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Aug 18, 2009 My bottle (341ml) shared with HogTownHarry & garthicus -- c/o Viper666. Pours a hazy orange-amber with an average size off-white head. Aroma: Like a nice Triple with a good amount of hops added. Flavour of toasted malt, spices, herbal hops, dark fruit and alcohol. Medium bodied. Really good, I’m not sure this is really on style (it’s not as sweet for one thing) but I quite like it. Miksu (2232), Jyväskylä, Finland
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Aug 15, 2009 0.34 l bottle, thanks Timo A! Dark amber color with small head. Sweet perfumed, toffeish, warming and raisiny aroma. Dryer toasty flavor with raisins, herbal hops, red currants, tart fruitiness and some sharp alcohol. Dry yeasty bitterness in the finish. | 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Aug 3, 2009 341ml. bottle. The color is a hazy amber very little head. The taste is bitter and sour, quite a surprise for a triple. As it warms up I could taste some fruitiness and herbs.
