Commercial Description:
A "Vin d'orge" to be distinguished from American barley wines. Unique, but if linked to any other type of beers, it would be classic English barley wines.

Wine from barley sugar. One single variety of noble hop and one single variety of malt were used.

Pours a cloudy amber color with a thin offwhite head. The aroma is pleasant but simple, caramel is the main attraction here. The flavor has a malty signature with caramel and hops, there’s mild bitterness in the end. The main flaw of this beer would be the palate, is feels lighter than any barley wine / english strong ale I’ve tasted and the texture feels dead, maybe it’s the very low carbonation. Overall, it’s a pleasant beer to sip, but not on par with the classics of the style.

Copper, thin lingering off white head, light lacing. Aroma is of caramel, butterscotch, moderate sweetness. Flavour is of caramel, light alcohol, moderate sweetness. Bitter mouthfeel, medium/light body, medium carbonation. Finishes medium length, bitter.

Weird, not the usual from Bieropholie.

341ml bottle purchased from La Trappe a Fromage in Gatineau, Quebec.
Opened on January 12, 2009.
No date.

Bottled, thanks hanniku and Timo A! Dark amber color. Very sweet, berryish, fruity and caramelly aroma with vanilla. Thick sweet flavor with toffee, caramel amd berries with raspberry and some rough herbal bitterness in finish. Chewy mouthfeel. Aroma is nice but the finish is dull.

Interesting beer.........It’s got a really nice smooth subtle sweetness, reminds me of a good mead. Really nice caramel malts, some piney hops, and a semi bitter finish. A pleasure to sip and enjoy.

[2319-20090719] 341mL bottle. Grainy malt aroma. Hazy, dark amber brown body with a quick creamy off-white head. More grainy malt and mild fruit flavour. Medium body. Average.

2009-07-19. Dark orange amber body with a modest beige head. Aroma is alcoholic and malty. Dry with touches of sweet caramel. (6+) Flavour is malt forward, dry alcohol in the finish lingers. Average palate. Okay but a bit rough overall. Bottle, approximately 1 year old from Rahman, Monteal
