Draught @ Brouwer’s Café:   Dark orange, caramel hues, large frothy off-white head, rather sticky lacing.   Resiny nose, hoppy, some citrus peel.   Seems pretty robust.   Really resiny on the tongue, the kind that gives me acid reflux.   Decent malt base, feels a little thick, but needs to be sweeter to balance this one out a bit.   Really tangy, alcohol is very present.   Yeah, this is getting to be a little bit tough to finish.   Moderate to full body and mouthfeel.   Big resiny finish.   This is not an overly hopped IPA, but instead overly resiny.   Needs more sweetness and less alcohol.   Never thought I would say a beer needs less booze, but I think this one does.

GABF 2009. Trying to decifer somewhat drunken notes here. Amber orange pour. Well balanced with 10% & not overhopped for the sake of being over hopped. Pretty impressed with the hoppy beers from Big Al

Shaker pint pour at Malt and Vine in Redmond, Washington. I had this on Sept 10th, just getting around to getting it in the db now. Pour is hazed reddish orange with a minimal off white head. Decent lacing as the head falls. Fine carbonation bubbles to the surface throughout the duration of the beer. Aroma of esthery Belgian yeast, vanilla, soft apricot fruitiness. Mild, but fresh nose. Taste is nice round Belgian fruity sweet yeast and bright resin citrus hops. The citrus is pear or mild tangerine. Really nicely executes Belgian style IPA. Flavors are full, expressive and nicely integrated. As it warms, the sweet begins to cloy some, with an ear wax bitterness that detracts some. Palate is medium, frothy, mouth coating. A bit of a waxy, grassy, clovey finish. Nice one.
