Bottle shared at a BeerAdvocate tasting. Black in color with a tan head. Aroma is coffee and chocolate. Flavor is more of the same with a slight sourness to it that may or may not have been intentional. Palate fairly average for the style.

Growler sampled on 12/27/07: Pours an opaque black with a wispy-lacing froth of brown head. Nice mocha coffee nose has some roasty smoky notes. Body starts faintly sweet with big dry roasty coffee flavor toward a lingering earthy roasty finish. Has a good amount of coffee flavor, but could use some more body and sweetness.

Pours opaque black with a lacy tan head. Dry coffee aroma. Medium-light body and light carbonation. Brewed coffee taste that slides into an espresso finish.

This was a nice surprise. Black, with nice brown head. Aroma of coffee and chocolate, with the chocolate being a bit more pronounced. More chocolate in the flavor than I expected, with a lot of coffee, too. Maybe a hint of red wine in the finish. As it warm, a lot of fruit character comes out. . It went nicely with chocolate covered blueberries. Bottle 2331 of 5000.

Bottle from Tom. Thanks. Pitch black color without much of a head on it. Smell is chocolate, loads of coffee, full roasted body. Taste is smooth and rich, not too heavy either. Very easy to session really. The coffee is pretty dominant but not bitter. Good stuff, I would like to have some more of this one.

bomber 0056/5000 nov 2008 by way of ucusty... pours a transparent blackish brown with a purple tinted cafe au lait colored head which is fairly short lived. the nose certainly doesn’t ooze with coffee although it is there... barely. aromas of sour roasty malt, fruity sourness, chocolate and caramel. the sourness seems out of place... it definitely does not fit in... the flavor is confusing... tartness is everywhere. it overpowers other notes of roasty grain, toasted nuts and an ashy finish. the aftertaste is mildly of coffee and the palate is pleasantly dry (the best quality of this beer). though i’m sure that is help immensely by the burdening sourness, sharp acidic mouth feel and light body.

this is the first stout/coffee anything which has ever been remedied by spicy food... yikes! 4/4/4/2/10/2.4

CPLYFO 09. Pours a deep dark brown almost black with a nice lasting deep beige head. Aroma is nice fresh espresso and coffee, toasted malts, deep sweet chocolate with a really pronounced brown malt- tootsie roll character throughout the nose and flavor. Lots more doughy big sweet chocolate, fresh coffee, earthy, nutty and toasty with light fruity esters. Pretty good overall.

(22oz bottle) Pours a dark brown body with a medium tan head. Aroma of roasted malt, cocoa, toasted rye, coffee, nuts, and smoke. Flavor of coffee, smoke, and roasted malt.
