Nice mocha coffee nose has some roasty smoky notes. Body starts faintly sweet with big dry roasty coffee flavor toward a lingering earthy roasty finish. Aroma is fairly coffeeish with lots of rich cocoa and some light berryish fruit. Softly charred aroma as well. Soft and fruity with a nice rich sweetness. Nice coffeeish flavour with a lingering chocolate and toasted maltiness. A touch of earthy herbal hoppiness on the back. No complaints here... another tasty brew. | 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jan 15, 2008 Sampled at MN Ratebeer Winter Gathering in Maplewood, MN and supplied by tyleranderso. From a 64 oz clear growler pours an opaque dark brown (nearly black) brew with no head, just a thin film top. Aroma of strong black coffee that over-powers any black malt or flowery hop scents. Taste is just as coffee with a light black malt flavor that has no carbonation but a medium body to go with it. Finish has the coffee and bitter aftertaste remain for a while. goldtwins (4085), Nesconset, New York, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jan 16, 2009 Poured a very dark brown-copper color with a ruby edge and brown head. The aroma was full of roasted malt and coffee but had some doughy notes and a hint of diacetyl. Roasted malt flavor with nice notes of coffee and chocolate. Medium bodied and crisp. Touch of chalkiness on the finish.
