This has a weird, overripe fruit aroma I can’t really warm up to. Sour taste with little to no hop presence. The bite is all sourness and no bitterness. A strange concoction indeed -- quite unlike other brown ales I’ve tried. JPDIPSO (4908), Wauwatosa, Wisconsin, USA

Something must be off in this one. This one has a mild scent of a mild kriek. Wood and mild cherries mix with a light dark caramel malt aroma. Not a bad aroma, but certainly not the aromas I am expecting from a nut brown ale. Mild roasted malt flavor intermingle with cask wood. Again not bad just nothing I would expect from a nut brown. Mild infection seems to be here, but none of the other signs appear (gusher, etc.). A mild black malt component kicks in the finish. Can’t say I understand this one. villania80 (1), charlotte, North Carolina, USA does not count | 5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 5/5 | 10/10 | 5/5 | 20/20 | Mar 1, 2006 excellent beer, very smooth, soothing aroma. I recomend this beer for anyone who loves dark beer. "Uncle Nuts" nut brown ale resembles the taste of Guiness Draught or Murphy’s Draught. austinpowers (2828), New York, New York, USA

I wonder if the sourness is a failure in quality control or the beer was intended that way. Anyway, I otherwise like this beer - it’s very mild, yet full-bodied in malt and is, true to its name, somewhat nutty. Rich and enjoyable. No hops whatsoever, which I like. Sad about the sourness, though. It could have been so much better without all the tartness. demdeac40 (240), Etowah, North Carolina, USA

Has a fruity almost licorice nose but it is very light. The flavor and palate are light yet somewhat satisfying. I have had worse. Ayumbomb (63), Asheville, North Carolina, USA

This stuff is boring- watered down, bland and not that exciting in any way, shape or form. If anything, this beer could be sweeter. If you want a good nut beer, Rogue is the only way to go. | 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Oct 29, 2005 This nut brown pours just that, a dark brown with a head that is light brown and creamy. First sniff I found alot of spice. Cloves and a little chocolate?
First sip had traces of coffee and alot of roasted malts. The finish was smooth and the spices really come through.
The palate was very good. The nut and spice flavour lingered with a slight bitterness. I can’t understand the rating of only 37?! This is much better than that. Suttree (2732), Knoxville, Tennessee, USA

I can be kinda suggestable like that). Certainly not bad in any way, but a bit boring. Sampled at the 2005 Asheville Brewer’s Jam.
