Commercial Description:
This dark brown ale is slightly sweet with a caramel and dark fruit finish. A show case of fine English malts, floor malted the old way. We use pale, chocolate, and crystal malts to produce a complex, but easy drinking dark ale. Very reminescent of northern English ales.

Draught. Pours copperish brown with almost white head. The aroma is caramel, with hints of cotton candy and a few fruity notes. The flavor is caramel and root-beer, some sugariness. Bark comes out in the middle and leads to a semi-sweet finish with some carbonation.

On draught at 42nd Street Oyester Bar in Raleigh, NC. Pour kinda looks like coke with a small light-tan head. Aroma is malty, with some nuttiness and a little caramel. Flavor is nutty again and slightly hoppy. Easy drinking brown.

Single from Total Wine in Huntersville, NC. I’m not sure what beer the previous raters have been drinking, but this beer is much better than their average rating. Pours a nice brown color, indicative of a raisin caramel mix, which is present in aroma and in taste. Very nice.

Draft pint at the brewery; Very dark, dark brown with just a thin stratus of foam. Giant malt-ball aroma and it carries forward to the flavor ... sweet yet heavy ... malt, vinegar ... where’s the fish and chips? (#2822, 4/27/2007)

Draft at the Shockoe Craft Beer Festival in Richmond, 8/26/06: Rich chocolate amber color; metallic nuttiness and a rich malt footing. Nice little bite in the end. Decent brown ale.

Aroma’s of Carmel and raisins. Very thin white, cream-colored head. A little fruity for a nut brown, with the nuttiness at the finish. Not bad overall, but wouldn’t go out of my way to find

Body is a ruby brown, no head. Aroma is fruity for a brown, I am catching plums, fruit punch, light caramel. Taste is a lot of raisens up front followed by light caramel, and that is about it. Nice label though.

Bottle from Ross; Nose of caramel, vanilla, and roastiness; clear walnut with a small offhwite head; flavor graininess, some caramel, and some light sourness.
