Pours a hazy golden yellow with a thin lasting head- but lower carbonation that it should have since it was a growler. Aroma is actually very similar to a saison- im curious as to what yeast strain they used. Lots of spicy phenolics, pepper, dandelion tea, orange and lemon in the very background. More green pepper flavor, lgith doughy yeast, cream of wheat, light phenols, some vanilla and a whispy doughy finihs. Nice double white for sure, but I wanna say if they used some kind of saison yeast, this falls more into a saison than a double wit. Would be interested to try fresh on tap with a high carbonation. kmweaver (2490), Sebastopol, California, USA

Thanks, Chris! Fittingly enough, this was my final rating of the weekend. Pours a hazy, golden-orange hue; white head with fine-bubbled lacing. Lots of cloves, bananas, and breadiness in the aroma; solid witte nose. Lively carbonation; medium mouthfeel: lots of bananas, caramelized sugar, and cloves, with some warming alcohol / roughness coming through; some astringency. Medium finish: bananas, brown sugar, and toasted malts. ucusty (1918), Wake Forest, North Carolina, USA

Pours gold and smells like corriander and citrus. Light lacing. This was a great thrist quencher that has nice warming capabilities. A sweet balance of flavors consisting of caramel, wheat and malts emacgee (1892), Chapel Hill, North Carolina, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Jul 11, 2008 Poured at Milltown. Pours a soft yellow gold with a one finger white head. Doesn’t look like a Belgian White, filtered maybe? The nose is a little sweet, some citrus, alcohol, a little bit of wheat and yeast imprint. Not as big as I would like it to be. The flavor is similar, a little warm, some orange, sweet, not much yeast or wheat flavor. Tastey. JCB (1796), Durham, North Carolina, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | May 30, 2007 Pint at Tyler’s, Durham. Well, this is a pretty jacked up witbier. Another winner from Big Boss, who are really coming on strong in N. Carolina. A lustrous and somewhat cloudy amber body, it’s got a big spiced palate up front, with hints of banana and orange peel in the nose. As you warm up to it, there’s some alcohol heat (a bit too much, which is why the flavor rating isn’t better) and spice. Really nice stuff. JB175 (1664), Bucks County, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jul 4, 2007 Hazy yellow-gold color with a minimal head. Aroma is big, sweet, & spicy - lots of orange peel, coriander, and assorted spices. Flavor is sweet with citrus, banana, pepper, wheat, and earthy spice. Nice tingle as it goes down. Unique - I would put this one above Southampton’s Double White TURDFERGUSON (1606), Carrboro, North Carolina, USA

| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Aug 4, 2008 Pint @ Tyler’s Apex. Good aroma, sweet & sour, spice too. Yeasty, seltzer kind of sharpness , little corniness about it, hints of orange and/or grapefruit. Touch of haze, golden yellow, cleared as it sat. Ok head, minor to no lace. Bittersweet flavor still a yeasty streak, banana kicks in, though I’m still getting some corn about it. Thick body, creamy oily mouthfeel, bitter sweet finish, Little rough around the finish. Tasty, though I wasn’t diggin the corn I got out of aroma, didn’t effect flavor as much. Didn’t stand out for me.
