Lots of whopping bite to this one. Strong alcoholic burn with a burnt caramel twist. (#2821, 4/27/2007) goldtwins (4080), Nesconset, New York, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Apr 25, 2007 Growler: Poured a hazy amber color with a small off-white head. Grapefruity hops start out the aroma with sweet malt underneath then some alcohol. Light earthy hops were detected after the beer warmed. The flavor was a mix of hops and malt with a sweet finish. The finish was also moderately bitter. Suttree (2722), Knoxville, Tennessee, USA

Nice stuff, a nice mix of sweet and bitter, on a smooth, almost creamy palate. thoroughly enjoyable, and the server was really cute too. Can I use that as criteria to bump up the "appearance" score? | 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Apr 22, 2007 Growler from brewery. Godd aroma Sweet, Citrusy, Orange, lemon-lime, Grapefruit. Got some apricot peach when cold. Turned grapefruity at it’s warmest. Hazed brownish orange color, little to no head, minor lace. Bitter sweet flavor, Like aroma, but lemon & grapefruit stand out the most. Minor toasted malts, but are buried by the hops. Medium body, Smooth viscous mouthfeel, bitter finish. Good IIPA. Lost what I liked in the aroma as it warmed. 19641948 (491), Greensboro, North Carolina, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 18/20 | Apr 21, 2007 Updated: Apr 24, 2007"Deuces Wild" per the program at Hickory Hops 2007. Cloudy orangey amber color with a head of tan. Thick lacing. Aromas leap from the glass with piney hops soaked in grapefuit juice. Smells sweet. Flavors have some of the aromatic sweetness, but with an added rush of bitter. Heady malt base holds up grapefuit, pineapple, and apricot. CItrusy joy with a touch of tropical. Smooth body, leans heavily towards bitter the more you drink it. This is what I’ve been looking for in a NC DIPA! Magjayran (1379), Durham, North Carolina, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Apr 13, 2007 Draft at the Federal in downtown Durham, NC. Amber orange color with a thin white head. Wonderful citrusy hope explosion in my nostrils promises joy. What starts as a somewhat typical grapefruity DIPA is magically transformed when the malt flavor hits turning it into a pineapple delight that comes back and hits you with a bitter kick at the finish. The carbonation is somewhat soft but it works well with this beer. A magnificent success for this newly renamed brewery.
