Commercial Description:
This style originated in Belgium to compete with the pilsners from Czechoslovakia, Germany, and Poland. It is a fruity ale with very strong carbonation, with complex, spicy flavors like cloves.

Bottle split with NachlamSie. Pours a light copper with hardly a head. After a vigorous swirl, a pale head finally appears, but diminishes almost instantly. The aroma is... oh god... what is that?! NachlamSie says it may be Dimethyl Sulfide. Whatever it is, it is rank. It smells like a bad macro beer that’s not quite skunked, but is getting there. The flavour isn’t much better than the aroma. Lots of that weird funk from the aroma in the initial flavour paired with some rotten fruits. The flavour isn’t terrible once the funkiness fades, but it’s still not good. It’s very bready towards the finish. Malts are extremely prominent with some light spices.

Hm, as I’m continuing to drink this, I’m realizing the flavour towards the finish is progressively getting worse. The funk is somehow expanding and travelling into the finish, completely ruining the already bad experience of this beer. The funk isn’t fading anymore... how... how is this progressively getting worse? I’m currently staring at my half-full glass of this stuff awaiting the moment it’s completely consumed so I can move on to a better beer.

Hell’s Belle bottle - born on September 2008. Pours a slightly hazy copper with a fast diminishing head. Oh boy, this doesn’t smell too good. The aroma is filled with buttery notes and a corny aspect. Very timid sweet, fruity esters are found which makes this smell like candy corn. The mouthfeel is pretty flat here which makes this seem really strange. I strongly disagree with the "strong carbonation" in the official description. Again with this butter and corn throughout which makes the finish sticky in a bad way. I find some suggestions of dried apricot and vanilla. This doesn’t float my boat. I probably couldn’t identify this as a Belgian styled ale. I don’t get much spiciness and any fruit suggestions remind me of gummy worms. I only had 6 ounces of this and it was too much. Big Boss makes some very respectable beers; this isn’t one of them in my humble opinion.

12oz bottle, from TURDFERGUSON, thanks Sam. Nice looking beer, dark gold with a nice white head. Sweet aroma, maybe a little banana in there. Tastes slightly sweet, light and spicy. Pretty decent.

Bottle. Actually not bad at all. One of the best Belgian knock-offs I’ve had. Carbonation is not too high, pours with a small, dissipating white head. Color is crystal clear orange. Body has some nice yeasty tastes. Maybe a hint of spice but not that noticeable. The low point though is the aftertaste, which is horrendous: sticky, oily, buttery, and bitter. Not bad but not great.

A passable little beer. Not a lot of spice that I would normally like, but was drinkable.

Thanks to Rogueone for sharing a bottle. This brew is a bright golden amber color with a thin white head that dissipates qickly. Small rings of lacing. Aroma of yeast and ripe fruits. Light-bodied with flavors of yeast, spices and fruit. The finish is sweet fruit and cloves with a light spice and banana aftertaste. Overall this is a tasty beer, although it loses a lot of ground in the Belgian category.

12oz bottle. Pours a pale golden with a thin white head which dissipated. Nose is of spices, yeast and pears. Taste is the same spices, fruit and yeast. Mouthfeel is medium and creamy.
