riversideAK (2648), Shoreline, Washington, USA Sep 1, 2008 Growler from Turdferguson. Thanks man! This one had very nice citrus aromas of grapefruits, tangerines, and oranges with a touch of sweeter caramel malt that added to the fruitiness. Poured an amber color with a thin lasting head and lots of sticky lace. Pretty hoppy initially. Lots of grapefruit and orange, some perfume, and a light caramel sweetness. Incredibly drinkable, enjoyable and nice. Lingering hops on the palate. Dry and resiny. Thanks Sam! emacgee (1859), Chapel Hill, North Carolina, USA Aug 11, 2008 Thanks turd for sharing the growler. Pours a clear copper gold with a one finger creamy white head. The nose is sweet and citrusy, grapefruit peel, apricots, very fruity and pungent nose. The flavor is also very citrusy, grapefruit peel, waxy bitter hop bite, sweet malt background. Waxy medium mouthfeel with a nice finish. really really enjoyed this one. TURDFERGUSON (1594), Carrboro, North Carolina, USA Aug 11, 2008 Draft at the brewery and a growler at home. Pours orange amber with a thin off-white head. Nose is nice floral, piney, citrus hops and a bit of caramel malt. Hoppy and smooth palate with nice hops flavor throughout. Not too bitter or too sweet. A real plus. This is probably the best big boss beer I have ever had. wilkie (1189), Raleigh, North Carolina, USA Jul 16, 2008 Draught, at release party at Horniblows Tavern. Very hazy, light brown/copper appearance with medium white head. Aroma is extremely hoppy--soap, pine, grapefruit. Flavor is all that and a little more--caramel and toasted malts, but lighter than the HR II version, in addition to the other hop aromas, there was a peppery hop flavor. The beer was very dry to the point of making me pucker a little. Excellent! OldGrowth (1407), North Carolina, USA Jul 14, 2008 Pint (s) at Brewery. Good aroma, sweet. Big on citrus, grapefruit & orange, with minor apricot/peach. Cloudy brownish orange color, good head & lacing. Bitter flavor, Grapefruit dominates, but I got hints of the other things I described in the aroma. Malt was sweet, caramel or toffee kind of thing. Medium body, creamy mouthfeel, bitter finish, Very nice, enjoyed the play on the aroma the most, though it was pleasing to look at too. As it warmed the aroma kept getting better. Surprised at how quiet it was at the pub for this release, but hey made it easy for me to get my pints... ucusty (1871), Wake Forest, North Carolina, USA Jul 10, 2008 Congratulations to Big Boss, this is by far the best beer in production... Cloudy orange pour medium head and spotty lace. Pleasant citrus aroma . Resinous hoppy flavor, Amarillo, cascade and simcoe. Wonderful beer Well balanced between hops and malt! I will be back!!!!
