OldGrowth (1405), North Carolina, USA Jun 1, 2009 old note, pint at Horniblows. Sweet aroma, citrus, orange & tangerine, peach too. Tad hazed brownish orange color, ok head that faded quick, though was much better with second pint. Sweet bitter flavor, initial orange peach gives way to grapefruit. Medium body, thick creamy mouthfeel, bitter dry finish. Great aroma and mouthfeel. this one was a winner and as good as Big Boss has made. at Horiblows it was called Miss Charlotte’s IPA and had a listed abv of 7.2%. TURDFERGUSON (1594), Carrboro, North Carolina, USA Apr 18, 2009 From a growler enjoyed about a month ago. Thanks Ryan for the growler. This is a pretty good pale from big boss. Not as good as hop roller 3, but pretty solid overall. wilkie (1189), Raleigh, North Carolina, USA Mar 11, 2009 Draught at Horniblows tavern. Pours copper, with a medium white head. Smells like grapefruit^2. Flavor is decently balanced with caramel tasting malt, and very hoppy. Pretty good beer. emacgee (1859), Chapel Hill, North Carolina, USA Mar 6, 2009 Thanks to turdferguson for sharing a growler of this. Pours a red orange with a two finger creamy eggshell head. The nose is fruity and citrusy, some grapefruit rind, nice balancing malty sweetness. Mix of fruity and spicy hops in the flavor, mild phenolic feel, grapefruit peel bitterness, nice malt balance. Palate has a pronounced waxy bitterness. Enjoyed.
