Some caramel and candi aroma. The taste is malty, sweet, caramel, well round. Similar to the Red Hydrant Ale, but sweeter. Pleasant. dwyerpg (2519), Las Vegas, Nevada, USA Feb 13, 2006 Looks and smells nice. Fairly sweet, but also a little sour. Sweeter at the finish and more than one would expect for the style. Tasted a little light actually on the alcohol too, but still fairly decent. RateandPillage (417), Atlanta, Georgia, USA Feb 5, 2006 Growler at KP’s Cellar. Pours dark red-brown with tan head. Aroma is astringent and malty. Very malty flavor with a little bit of peat and some slight molasses and chocolate. Did they use candi sugar? Average scotch ale. turbo (1254), Arizona, USA Jan 29, 2006 Dark brown, almost black with a thick off white head.
Aroma is a bit watery, corn and light alcohol.
Flavor is sweet malt, light roast, caramel.
A bit to sweet for my taste but not bad. CaptainCougar (5379), Rockville, Maryland, USA Jan 23, 2006 Sampled from a growler courtesy of kp: Pours a dark mahogany with ruby huies and a thin tan head. Sweet dark malty and mildly peaty aroma has a touch of dark fruits. Starts sweet and sticky with lots of dark caramel malt and some mild plum flavor with some dark Belgian candi sugar sweetness. A touch of bitterness in the finish rounds out this nice, fairly authentic Scotch ale. goldtwins (4078), Nesconset, New York, USA Jan 15, 2006 Growler @ Kps cellar. Poured a brownish ruby color with a medium tan head and a nice cascade effect. Aroma was sweet and malty. Grapey with caramel and chocolate. Malty sweet flavor. Smooth mouthfeel with a low carbonation. Warming.
