(Ram Restaurant and Brewery, Schaumburg, IL - tapped at this location as Big Horn ’71 Pale Ale) Draft... DLD’08... Clear yellow ale with a quickity zippity, gone-in-a-flash, white head. My glass extends notes of medium-roast malts, earthy grapefruit and pine needle hops with a touch of caramel. Medium-bodied and lightly creamy with lively carbonation. Moderately sweet maltiness to go along with rye crispness and hop bitterness. Lengthy, bitter, dry finish.

From the tap this poured a pale gold with a creammy white head. Very nice lacing. Hard to pick up aromas at this joint since they insist on having only chilled glasses available. The aroma was mainly grapefruit with zest of lemon. Some sweet malt managed to ooze out later. The flavor is sweet with citrus fruits, the grapefruit adding a touch of the sour. Malt once more oozed out later, but the finish was a light hoppy bitterness. Okay.

On tap at Ram - Wheeling, IL. Poured a clear lighter golden with about zero head (very light white ring). Nose picked up soft, sweet citrus with mild vegetal notes.. pleasant overall. Flavor found low-to-moderate grapefruit bitterness with sweet citrus meat at the core... pleasant and simple.. a bit too sweet. Just shy of medium-bodied.. very safe beer.. very drinkable.
