DA (2389), Portland, Oregon City, Oregon, USA Jun 23, 2007 Pours a copper-brown with a thin off-white head. This was actually one of the better brown ales i’ve had, good toasty and nutty flavor up front, caramel and a light bitter chocolate note. Good hops to balance but still let the malts be the main act. Full bodied and smooth on the palate. Reid (991), Salem, Oregon, USA Jun 28, 2005 Served in an 18 oz glass at The Ram, Salem, Oregon
Quite an attractive ale , dark brown almost mahogany with a nice creamy small tan head.
Aroma is subdued because the beer is a triffle to cold, when it warms the strong sweet caramel malty aroma shows through.
The taste has a very strong roasaty aspect, with some coffeeish bitterness, thenit smooths out and theres even a bit of hop in the end, slightly nutty.
Very nice on the palate, a good creamy, smooth mouthfeel.
Very nice brown ale, one of the best beers I have had from Bighorn
