(06.18.06) On tap at Ram brewpub, Wheeling, IL. Clear amber with small white head. Soft carbonation. Fruity malt aroma. Medium bodied ale that starts with light malt sweetness and caramel/spicy/fruity flavors. Finished with light hop bitterness. Well-balanced and smooth. Complex flavor character. This Belgium-style beer is one of my favorite Ram/Big Horn beers.

Draught at the brewpub. Light amber in colour. No head. Typical Belgian fruity yeasty aromas. Full-bodied with a rather sweet mouthfeel. No notice of any hops. Malts dominate the palate. Finishes syrupy. Low in carbonation.

Not much aroma; fresh bland lager. No head, no lace. Clear body with no carbonation and an amber body. Sweet, nice flavor with some hops. There’s nothing Belgian about this. It tastes neither Belgian nor Pale. Tastes somewhat like a Maibock. Has a stronger alcohol profile, perhaps in the high 6’s. Pretty solid brew; improved as it warmed. Despite the misclassification, I like this brew. It would be more highly rated, but the aroma and appearance, neither of which were bad, but were average, lost valuable points that could have this brew in the high 3’s.
