Commercial Description:
A two time medalist, this opaque black stout is boldly aggressive with a roasted flavor stemming from rich UK malt. Iron Horse Stout was awarded the top medal in the 1998 World Beer Cup Competition in Rio de Janiero, Brazil, and the bronze medal in the 2000 Great American Beer Festival in Denver, Colorado.

(On tap) Nashville. Completely pitch black and opaque - barely any head. Almost vinous aroma of dried fruit and port wine. Flavours of lightly burned malt and then unfortunately - again - a strong fustiness spoiling what could have been a fairly nice Stout. God, why the f... don’t these people keep their pipes clean? A bloody disgrace. 290306

Score: iii to i
Appearance: black, whispy tan head, no lace
Aroma: roasted malt aroma over powered by sweet butterscotch dyacital once it warms
Body: smooth but slightly thin body
Flavor: lots of roasted malt flavor leading to too much coffee like burnt malt bitterness which overwhelms the flavor profile

Dark brown. Chocolatey aroma. Light body is nice and creamy. Not a ton of flavour beyond the most basic dark malt profile. Disappointing.

Black body with brown head. Aroma is medium sweet, roast, milk chocolate, some coffee, light earthy/floral. Taste is moderately sweet, coffee, roast, some chocolate, light herbal, faint burnt. Creamy light-medium body.

Black body with creamy tan head. Aroma is medium sweet, chococoffee. Taste is medium sweet, chococoffee, roasty. Smooth, medium body. Straightforward "basic" stout that works well.

Cask Stillage from the Jug at the GABF, Colorado Convention Center 26/09/2009 Hoppy aroma. Beige head. Black smooth and a little rich on the palate with a little dryness in a coffee roast finish.

On tap at the Disney World Boark Walk location. Poured a dark black with a smaller sized off white head. Aromas of chocolate and roasted malts. Tastes of roasted malts, coffee, and chocolate. Light bitter finish. My favorite out of the six beers I had there.

Pours a very dark opaque with brown edges and a frothy well-lacing tan head. Aroma is subtle, dry and roasty without much sweetness. Smooth, malty, robubst, dry-tasting body has good viscosity and roasty finish. A nicely balanced brew and an enjoyable dry stout.

This beer rocks! Pours as black as used motor oil. Medium-sized, creamy, beige head. Great retention and thick, creamy lacing. Brown tea, charred wood, dark chocolate and cola in the aroma. Very well-bittered to balance out the deeply roasted, chocolatey, full malt. Also, astringent with notes of charcoal. Medium-bodied with a creamy mouthfeel and medium carbonation. Lengthy, burnt, crisp, dry finish. World class beer!
