Commercial Description:
Brewed with a combination of roasted barley malts and freshly ground espresso beans to produce a rich robust flavour. The intense coffee flavour is delicious on its own or as a perfect compliment to chocolate. Holiday favourites such as Christmas cake and plum pudding go very well with this unique dessert beer.

black pour with a bubbly head that goes away quickly. Lots of carbonation makes it feel cola-ish with cold coffee undertones.

[1051-20080113] Bottle (w/ tuqueboy). Dark malt aroma has a hint of coffee beans. Dark brown body with a quick foamy light tan head. Creamy coffee flavour is mostly malted grains. Medium-full body. Disappointingly uncoffee-like.

Sampled at 2007 Brewnosers’ Christmas Gathering. Black colour with some ruby highlights and a mostly diminishing frothy tan head. Coffee and roasty aroma with some caramel notes. Light coffee and chocolate, but not much else. Light to medium bodied, thin and watery mouthfeel. All the espresso in the world couldn’t save this stout’s lack of body and overall dearth of character.

Bottle, courtesy of Jerc. Mild coffee/roast aroma. Black with lots of brown/red tints. Nice looking small bubbly beige head, but it disappears really fast. Incredibly thin and watery body for a stout. Taste is ok - cold coffee, some roast no linger at all. It just ends in water. Not good at all.

Bottle. Aroma: Notes of coffee obviously. Hints of chocolate if you use your imagination. Appearance: Dark dark brown, almost black. Fair sized tan head, about an inch. Moderate lacing left on the glass. Flavor: Not much. Slightly malty. Chalky taste. Palate: Thin and watery.

Bottle. Black body with a creamy tan head that fades. Muted aroma of coffee roast, mild underlying malt. Flavour is dilute roasty coffee with sweet malty foundation. I like it better than I expected, partly because there is little or no coffee flavour which I do not care for. Slightly fuller than average palate is very thin for a stout. Its not unpleasant, but it is remarkably mildly flavoured considered what it strives to be.

341ml bottle.
Pours a cola colour with a brown stained head. Smell of sweet caramel malts and a little chocolate. Full bodied with soft carbonation. Taste has a thick sweetness mixed with similar flavours of what is found in the aroma. Not enough of the coffee flavour for me. Others take over a bit more. Finish is short and sweet and a small bit sticky. Overall a smooth, flavourfull, and drinkable beer.
