Commercial Description:
Big Rock is pleased to bring you our newest addition to the family, PALE: India Pale Ale. Historically, the original India Pale Ale’s were cask conditioned and heavily hopped to allow the beer to mature on its long voyage from Britain to India. Our dry hopped, fermenter conditioned IPA is brewed in this traditional method. The result is an exceptionally well-balanced, flavourful ale; refined and subtle. In the spirit of refreshing our portfolio, we bid a fond farewell as we phase out Chinook Pale Ale.

A very good beer from Big Rock. Makes you want to go out and try more of what that brewer has available.

Good malty aroma. Body is all malt with maedium bitterness. Finishes slightly sweet. Not quite an IPA, but a good malty English Pale Ale.

Note: Bottle sampled said IPA, not Pale India Pale ALe. Dark gold color. Medium head. Aroma is hoppy. A medium bodied IPA. Malty and hoppy. Somewhat juicy. Nicely balanced. A not to hoppy IPA. Grapefruit and citrus flavors are mild. More in the English style of IPA. Mouthfeel is full. Finish is clean. Aftertaste is slightly bitter.

Poured dark amber with big lacey head. Impressively floral nose. Sweet, bountiful flavors, ripe with both malt and a bit o’ hop, very well rounded. Surprisingly good! (Re-rated from a bottle in Canada, 5/14/07: Poured with a ncie amber hue with an initial flourish of carbonation, then quieted. Maybe my olfactory senses are dulled, because I find little aroma, maybe a little crystaline malt. But this has a nice flavor ... solid tangy malt with a litle hoppy, woodsy addendum that appears as it rolls of the tongue.) Downgraded a bit from original.

Overall a pleasant surprise. Slightly fruity aroma, appearance is honey brown. Starts off smooth and has just a slightly hoppy finish. A tasty beer.

341ml brown bottle. Deep gold colour, very creamy head, tight bubbled, with sticky lace. Slightly floral hop aroma with some sweetish fruity malt behind it. Malty flavour, slightly earthy. Bitterness very light toward finish. Lively carbonation. Perhaps labeling this as an IPA is a bit of a stretch, but I liked it.

Not particularly bitter, much more like an american pale ale. Fruity nose, very smooth carbonation, overall a good beer. Canadian beers (in my experience) don’t have much in the way of hops, so I guess this is pretty hoppy. Very smooth. Tasty and satisfying. That’s my qualifications for a good beer.

Sweet aroma, deep amber, slim vanilla head. Malt flavour, with some nuttiness too, followed by a nice bitterness. Creamy and smooth. Quite enjoyable.
