Scottich malt aroma and a malt flavor backed up by alcohol--which leaves the tip of the tongue numb. Balanced, malty, and with an alcohol punch, this is a good scottish-irish ale. There is an intrinsic heaviness you can feel in your throat and chest when drinking this. Good malt presence, adequate hops, but there is this sort of nasty bitterness at the back of my mouth that is leaving me with a slight look of perturbance (I think I may have just invented a word). These guys at Big Rock seem to be barely hitting par with their brews. DaSilky1 (1989), San Diego, California, USA

| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Nov 10, 2002 Bottle. A brown amber color with a laced white head. Solid buttery and malty nose and flavor. A little hop bite which dies quickly and leaves a malty aftertaste. Murphy (1759), Fort Collins, Colorado, USA

Drink up. beerhunter99 (2), Ontario, Canada does not count | 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Oct 28, 2002 Very good beer, a little high-test though. Tasted at the Brewery, so freshness might have influenced the rating. DubbelO7 (42), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA
