It’s what I used to think was a micro brew before I knew any better. Pours a crystal clear amber-brown color with a small head that reduces quickly. Slight understated aromas of roast malts, caramel. Starts light with the nutty malts out-balancing the weaker hops..medium light body...light clean finish. A better than the average tasting light ales from the Canadian macros.....more flavor but still not enough to satisfy my tastes in an ale. leitrim65 (398), Seattle, Washington, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 2/5 | 11/20 | May 31, 2004 Flavorful but an average brew at best. Pours a dark amber color. With aromas of roasted malt and caramel. Light to medium bodied, with flavors of roasted malt, caramel, and a somewhat unstructured hoppiness. Ahh! tupalev (2618), Waterloo, Ontario, Canada
| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | May 7, 2004 I enjoyed this more than the traditional when I visited out west last year. Lighter in colour but a bit more going on in the hops end. Pretty decent on draught and was available when macros were only other choice, so that could have helped too! | 2.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 2/5 | 4/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | May 3, 2004 Aroma of strong alcohol and some kind of nut, which I can’t put my finger on. Taste was a bit thin but had somewhat a bitterness. MrManning (1659), London, Ontario, Canada
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 13/20 | Apr 14, 2004 Pours a dark brown body with nice white head. Aroma is nutty and almost smokey. Sort of sweet also. Taste is a little watery, with some malty sweetness. Decent. piscator34 (1134), Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada
| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 11/20 | Feb 25, 2004 Reminds me of Big Rock's IPA, only with more water and less flavor. Smells vaguely of malt and toffee, and has a hint of nuttiness along with some malt flavors. It's not bad, but Big Rock's other beers are better. JoeMcPhee (5030), Jackson Heights, New York, USA
| 1.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 2/10 | 3/5 | 3/10 | 2/5 | 4/20 | Jan 29, 2004 I don't know if I got a bad bottle or what, but I didn't find very much worthwhile in this one. Looks average enough, with a moderate off-white head that quickly faded away and a nice light copper colour. I got very little aroma whatsoever, maybe something resembling cardboard. Tasted... well wet at least. Maybe a bit of sweetness and some maltiness, but nothing worth writing home about. Tessic (478), Brantford, Ontario, Canada
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jan 13, 2004 Pours a amber colour with a white head that didn't last too long even after a vigorous pour.
Heavy malt scents along with honey doughy yeast notes. Smooth initial sip. Very nice slightly toasted malt flavour with a little sweetness. The finish was a little doughy with some more bread flavours. Flavour disappeared quickly though unfortunatly.
