| 2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 3/10 | 2/5 | 8/20 | Dec 4, 2009 Can on a trip to Canada . . . okay flavor, very light and somewhat weak. The color is good, and there are some good caramel malt flavors, just not much else. Cans are never a good thing but it wasn’t horrible.

| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 2/5 | 13/20 | Nov 26, 2009 bottle, cellar temperature. lighter, copper-colored version of traditional is fairly accurate. The quality is fairly similar to their ’traditional’ except with a litle less of an edge. Still, surprisingly underrated on here, especially considering some of the horrid stuff with similar scores.
Although it is marked here as a ’brown ale’, the bottle itself has a sort of dial with different styles on it, and the highlighted one is ’Ale’, not ’English Brown’. The commercial description merely states that it has a nutty finish similar to an English Brown, it doesn’t suggest that it is one. An English Brown is considerably maltier and thicker.
In its own right quite good though, certainly the taste is very good and it makes for a fine session beer (not as good as Traditional though), but the palate and aroma are far from top-notch. blankboy (3251), Toronto, Ontario, Canada

Pours a clear gold with a small diminishing creamy white head. Aroma of caramel malt, grain and some sweetness. Flavour of grain, caramel malt and very light hops. Average bodied. Not very good. bulldogops (159), Alberta, Canada
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Oct 14, 2009 355 mL Can :(. Can’t find this in bottles in the city. Clear amber pour, can gives it a larger than average head. Aroma is nutty, almond, hazelnut, vanilla, roasted malts. Taste is light and sweet, with a clean mouthfeel that is quite refreshing. More appealing than Traditional.
