Jul 26, 2009 (12oz bottle, thanks CaptainCougar) Small brown head atop clear red-black body. Aroma is medium sweet, bittersweet chocolate, earthy/herbal. Taste is moderately sweet, coffee, some milk chocolate, light earthy. Sticky medium body, low carbonation.

Jul 25, 2009 Bottled. Poured much darker than expected.. about a shade shy of black, with a deep tan head. The aroma picked up well-roasted chocolate, coffee, and molasses with a lovely dose of floral and piney hoppage.. very well balanced and enjoyable. The flavor was led by molasses and coffee maltage, well-roasted, with accents of vanilla and semi-sweet chocolate.. bitterness surrounded in the form of more coffee, pine, and earth.. long, memorable finish, with excellent balance between the components. Medium-plus bodied and well-roasted on the palate.. a little too dry and grainy at times, but that only detracted a little.. great use of hops.. I’d gladly drink this again and again.

May 29, 2009 Got a six pack at the CVS in Butte, Montana. Pours very dark, with a robust tan head. Rich malty flavor, with notes of coffee and chocolatte. Also very smooth and creamy palate. All in all, a definite thumbs up.

May 25, 2009 Thick black pour with a diminishing brown head. Rich, malty aroma with a touch of chocolate. Very intense and appealing aroma. Sneaky smooth mouthfeel with a powerful palate. Slight carbonation bite on the finish, but it strangely balances out the smoothness of the nose. The malt profile isn’t enormous by any means, just solid execution of the palate/balancing of flavors and texture. While this might have a slightly different flavor than the run of the mill porter, the execution on this beer is flawless, and this is one my favorites.

May 19, 2009 12oz bottle, courtesy of a friend coming back from Montana, thanks Jason. Super dark pour with a pretty nice brown head. Nice roasty, chocolaty aroma, smells very nice. Lots of dark roastiness, some coffee, smelled better than it tasted.

May 16, 2009 bottle sample at the Bruery 1st anniv party, this dark brown our has a roasty and chocolatey nose along with a coffee, chocolate, roasty nut and other flavors in the palate.
