The aroma is a roasty chocolately one. Flavor is very smoky ending on a dry note. Would easily order this one again! truegen (164), Puyallup, Washington, USA

Very active tan head initially that fades to a heavy ring and center film--great lace. Chocolate-black color is totally opaque. Aroma is muted, faintly smelling of roasty coffee and cocoa. Dry on the tongue, the flavor is mocha and a touch of raisin and hazel nut. Not a hefty body, and the finish is little weak, but this is tasty porter, overall. | 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Mar 7, 2009 Pours surprisingly dark, appears black in the glass with a large, frothy head of a light tan. Nose smells mainly of roast, a touch of chocolate & dark fruit. Has some richness to the malts. Well balanced and big. Notes of chocolate covered raisin. A nice beer overall. fidel (975), Livermore, California, USA

Coffee flavor with roast, rich malt, and caramel. Medium bodied. Caramel lingers with coffee and rich malt. Bit of hops, but the coffee come out strong. montanabeerman (7), Bozeman, Montana, USA does not count | 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Feb 24, 2009 Dark brown/black color, beige head and nice lacing.
a big grainy and roasty aroma. Complex roasty malt flavor and weirdly enough I can pick up a bit of that vanilla. Balanced with a nice hop bitterness. long bitter aftertast. I hope they keep this one around. Big Sky needed a big porter to round out its lineup. CanIHave4Beers (905), Des Moines, Iowa, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Jan 19, 2009 Aroma is nice, a little musty and faint but certainly some roasted malt and coffee in there.
This looks a lot like porter, with it’s thin tan head with a very dark color and a bit of pleasant lace. Flavor is certainly coffee with some nice mild hop bitterness presenting it’s self. Palate is well balanced sharp and round at different points, overall a nice porter.

| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | May 5, 2007 Bottle: Black in color, hues of black coffee, large frothy/fizzy light brown head, sparce lacing.   Soft roasted malt nose, some
lactose like sweetness, a touch sour as well, very subtle hop bitterness.   Roasty start, aformentioned lactose, light bitterness.
Some metallic notes as well.   Fairly average, a little airy.   T’was told it was aged in some sort of barrel but not getting any of
that.   A little appleskin is apparent.   Tiz fairly robust, hefty body, mouthfeel is airy tho... *burp*   Lingering lactose
infused roasted malts with a pale hop bitterness.   Could stand to be a bit more meaty.   Tiz fairly good otherwise.
