I’ll keep exploring the different styles they have and finding some seriously hidden gems, as long as they keep making it.
The beer pours out a solid black color with a 1" rising tan head. The head dissipated down to about 1/2" for most of the bottle. Dark chocolate, coffee, a touch of smoke and ask like the smell of a cooled bbq show up in the aroma. Flavor exlodes with dark chocolate, coffee, earthy malts, subtle vanilla along with the aforementioned smoke and ash. It actually works really well with this beer and is very restrained. Very nicely done.

Aroma was of roast malts, coffee, and some candy sweetness. Taste more of the light coffee roast and some light bitterness. A run of the mill porter. bsp77 (202), Minnesota, USA

Completely opaque black color with cappuccino head that mostly subsides.
Aroma of coffee, chocolate and roasted malts. Smells as if coffee was added, although I am almost certain it wasn’t.
Chocolate, coffee and licorice. Overall, nice malt taste but needs more bitterness, whether from hops or roasting.
Low carbonation and pretty smooth, but too thin.
Despite the thin body and relative lack of bitterness, it is a smooth, easy drinking porter.

| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Oct 9, 2009 On tap at the brewery. This dark brown ale poured with a rich brown head and a toffee aroma. It starts with a chocolate toffee flavor that leaves a chalky, but tasty roasted malt flavor on the palate. CaptainCougar (5525), Rockville, Maryland, USA

Aroma of sweet toasty dark caramel malts and some dark chocolate with a hint of raisins. Body starts with good fullness and toasty caramel maltiness with some earthy roasty dark chocolate notes before a drier bittersweet finish. A pretty nice porter.
