| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Apr 17, 2005 Crisp,clean but one dimensional. A tad of bubblegum in the nose and a mildly sweet but still sorta boring flavor. Easy drinker. muzzlehatch (4427), Burlington, Vermont, USA
| 1.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 3/10 | 1/5 | 4/20 | Mar 15, 2005 12 oz bottle. Light, very clear gold with a lasting white foamy top...minimal VERY sweet caramel nose with a twinge of grass, a bit noxious...sweet, artificial candyish initical flavor, some ok malt in the middle, rather spoiled lactic quality late...awful metallic finish. This bottle may well have been too old, but with no dating on, nor anything to even indicate that it was a fragile kolsch...hell, it’s the brewer’s responsibility, not mine! | 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 12/20 | Mar 11, 2005 Clear yellowy amber hue, strong carbonation, modest head formation. Fairly clean malty aroma, mild caramel notes. Mild toffee/caramel on the palate, but very light and clean overall. Pretty simple refresher but just about enjoyable. | 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Feb 22, 2005 This was a golden color with a white head that quickly diminishes. It has a very clean taste, it really lives up to the name crystal ale. It isn’t my favorite big sky brew but it is pretty decent. beerinmarch (2781), Alabama, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jan 24, 2005 I’ve never seen this bottle until recently, this brew pours a light orange/golden with a medium white head. Aroma is grainy with a sweet citrus note up front and a nice addition of hops. This beer has much more body than I was anticipating, citrus flavors are present throughout, a few earthy/dirt flavors in the mix, with smooth hopping in the finish. This would make a great summer brew, i’m not sure why its on the shelves here in january. SODAK14 (106), Rapid City, South Dakota, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jan 8, 2005 Taste was a little different than I was expecting. The first beer I didn’t care for, the second and third grew on me. Excellent color, small head, and little lacing. Overall a decent beer, just not to my personal taste. Sidenote: Good artwork on the label. Reid (1090), Salem, Oregon, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jan 1, 2005 Bought one single of this. I am assuming its a summer ale..so the freshness might be a problem.
Its a pretty average looking Kolsch..golden ,like Tate and Lyle syrup from the UK..large frothy pure white head..leaves a small amount of laceing.
liked the aroma of this very sweet and floral without being overbearing..even a hint of hop in the background.
taste is quite acceptable smooth sweetness at first ,than a burst of bitterness..and again a sweet finish. Honeyish in tone sometimes.
Its pretty average on the palate and is borderline cloying in the end..though it just manages to stay on the palatable side of it.
I dont think this is a bad beer..it certainllyisnt a good one either. Its one that i would accept but i doubt would buy again.
