Commercial Description:
This big, rich IPA features Simcoe hops which give it both a fruity, piney hop nose and a clean, ringing bitterness. IN-between, the malt flavor is slightly caramel for a touch of malt sweetness. This IPA is well-balanced and very expressive with hops.

exact same color as the Ale Asylum Hopalicious I just had only this one is clearer. aroma is strongly of earthy hops, the piney quality is not present as advertised. It is not that strong on the caramel so I don’t believe it is past its prime. I wonder if this beer only uses Simcoe hops. These are deceptively bitter, though, so I’ll give them that. Finishes with a moderate sweetness. Not bad, but not among my favorites.

How can this beer have such a high rating. I found the beer singularly bitter, not complex. Does it use only one kind of hop? I found it overwhelminly citrusy, like it was brewed with grapefruit zest. Aroma was fair. I’m an IPA fan, but not a fan of this beer.

Pour is deep golden with a light tan head. Aroma is of fresh hops, pine, and some slight citrus. Flavors outweigh the aroma with upfront hop and pine moving to some lightly roasted malt finishing with a bit of caramel. Fresh brew and probably worth a try. May be interested to taste a few other brews from the brewery.

12-oz bottle. Pours dark amber with an average, rocky, off-white head, mostly lasting with good lacing. Aroma is heavy malt (caramel, bread, cookie), heavy hops (flowers, citrus, pine, perfume), heavy yeast (dough, horse blanket) with notes of candied fruit and alcohol. Medium bodied, sticky texture, lively carbonation, and a bitter finish. Long duration, light sweetness, heavy acidity and bitterness.

Lots of grapefruit present on aroma and taste. The beer broke down in the aftertaste, as it was randomly bitter and uncontroled. Not much of a backbone to hold this one up... very thin. I didn’t think it was very piney, just one-dimensional bitter citrus. I’ll pass.

Great Stuff ! I was Stoked when I saw this stuff in Illinois. . . Great amber color to it, smells like a pine forest and forest floor. . . Great Simcoe Hops staple, I was surprised how slam-able this beer was, very addicting Fresh Grapefruit hop flavor to it, a nice resin/fruit after taste with a bit on the acidic side, but very well made. Would buy again. . .

Nice beer. Pours a medium amber with a 1 finger head. Some lacing. In order I found piney hops/citrus and mild malt. Very nice beer and am stoked it’s in my area.
