Pours hazy amber orange with a good lasting khaki head. Pungant Juicey Fruit cirtusy aroma. Flavors of pine needles and floor cleaner. Not really in a bad way. I’m just trying to illustrate the pine character. Very fresh. Very bitter. Long lasting aftertaste. Medium body. Average carbonation. Dry bitter finish. This is a really nice sessionable IPA. Smells big of pine and hops. Excellent aroma. Tastes start of caramel and malt and end on a big hop finish that gets ALMOST mettallic (in a good way). Really leaves the tongue tingling. Good, rock solid IPA. I’ll be drinking again soon. greenhorn1 (462), Mission Viejo, California, USA

Aroma and flavor of citrus, pine and a sweet caramel malt backing. Medium mouthfeel with a nice long hop finish. In fact, this is quite a hopped up IPA, just the way I prefer it. Good job BSB! milljam (584), Norman, Oklahoma, USA

Subtle sweet malt to balance the hop. The only issue is a sourness that is present after a few mouthfulls.....I have found this to be the case in run-of-the-mill IPAs. hellbilly (1566), scottsdale über alles, Arizona, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Jan 31, 2008 pours from the tap a dark copper color with a thin white head which leaves behind some spotty lace work. the aroma is full of piney hops, rosemary, caramel, malt, orange and it’s cousin the kumquat. the hoppy aroma creates an almost menthol burning sensation in my face and chest... cool. the flavor is much more balanced than the aroma... light pine, citrus and grass are kept in check with some malty sweetness. the finish is nice and dry. more piney goodness lingers in the aftertaste. medium body with prickly carbonation... this is WAY better fresh from the taps. | 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Jan 22, 2008 An incredible IPA. Just when I think the style is dead with me something comes around and smacks me in the face. I love simcoe hops which are very distinct in the aroma and taste. Some malt in the aroma also. Pour was a beautiful dark amber with a generous 2 finger off white head. Taste was in your face hoppy. This beer says "You will take your hops and like it". Some malt sweetness in an out, but the simcoe drives this ship. Nice bitter aftertaste. I haven’t been excited about an IPA for a long time since now. Great! posikyle (165), Alabama, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Jan 18, 2008 Pours a deep copper color, quickly dissipating head. Aroma is fruity, and maltier than I’m accustomed to in an IPA. Very hoppy, hoppier than a lot of "IPAs" out there. Well balanced, would definitely recommend. sickassmick (82), Concord, California, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 2/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 15/20 | Jan 8, 2008 pours an ugly hazy brown amber with little head that dissipates quickly. full body and light lacing. The smell is very sweet and clean. The flavor is much better than I would have expected (no offense to montana, I have family there). The hops are all up front and don’t stay around on the mouth for too long, but this is a very hoppy beer none the less. I didn’t read any ratings before I bought this and 88 overall is probably just about right. What this is doing in the liquor store by my house I have no clue. There is a full row of them and all of them are dusty. If I had the money to do it I might clear the shelf! Props to Montana! good beer.
