The malt base is sweet but pretty thin considering the sharp hop bite and seems a bit soapy. Would like to try this aged or casked. hophead75 (1964), Boonton, New Jersey, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Aug 21, 2007 Not sure who shared this one at Mullman’s gathering. This was a tough one as I had just drank some pretty strong and hoppy american strong ales before this. Anyway, poured a light orange in color with a small to medium off white head. Aroma was quite fruity, with grapefruit and pineapple and some caramel malts way in the back. Taste was also quite hoppy, with alot of grapefruit/pineapple specifically simcoe hops. Malt backbone is good enough to backup the hops, body is light to medium with a moderate amount of bitterness for a single IPA. Overall, very clean and well refined. A pretty nice one that I would drink again if I had the opportunity. brianprentiss (475), Portland, Oregon, USA

Nice flavor, again citrus note here, very nice bitterness in this one. Sweet but not too sweet. The flavor stays for a long time. Nice brew.... troopie (897), USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jul 29, 2007 Bottle. Fruity aroma with some traces of pine and hops. Malt sweetness with much hoppiness like a good IPA. Lingering hop finish with a bit of metal for which a demerit. Overall a drinkeable IPA. DrBayern (1137), Morehead City, North Carolina, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jul 27, 2007 Draft at the brewery on 7/17/07. Clear copper with a yellowish tan head, pretty nice looking. An assertive fresh pine aroma with some floral notes is very inviting. Medium body and carbonation and a resinous quality that was not unexpected given the hoppy aroma. Background malt is quickly overcome by a grapefruit bitterness in a lengthy, very dry finish. asedzie (457), San Francisco, California, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 5/5 | 14/20 | Jul 24, 2007 Bottle. Pours copper, medium off-white head w/ lacing. Aroma is very fruity - light passionfruit, oranges, raspberry and some pear. Flavor is fruity hops - grapefruit, strawberry and a hint of lemon - with some tofee malt character balancing the hops. Full, creamy palate.
